HUMBLING HIMSELF TO THE LORD IN A DESPRITE CRY
DAVID CRIES OUT TO GOD . HERE DAVID IS BEING CHASED TO THE FURTHEST PARTS OF THE KINGDOM AND EVEN BEYOND BY THAT OF SAUL AND HIS ARMY, DAVID AT ONE POINT FEARING HIS LIFE WENT TO THE ENEMY WHICH WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM BUT DAVID PRETENDED TO BE A MAD MAN DROOLING ON HIS BEARD THEY HAS SOME SORT OF COMPASSION ON HIM,
TIMES WERE TOUGH FOR DAVID AT THIS POINT IN HIS LIFE, GOD HAS PROMISED TO MAKE HIM KING HE HAS BEEN ANNOTATED AS KING BY SAMUEL THIS WAS NOT THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE I MEAN JUST A LITTLE WHILE BEFORE THIS DAVID HAROLD AS THE CHAMPION OVER THE PHILISTINES FOR KILLING THE GIANT GOLIATH , WAS THIS HOW KINGS WERE MADE TO BE CHASED OUT OF RIVALRY OUT OF JEALOUSLY, AFTER ALL HE DEFENDED HIS COUNTRY HE DEFENDED THE NAME OF GOD AND NOW HE IS ON THE RUN FOR HIS LIFE WHAT GRATITUDE WHAT REPAYMENT
INSTEAD OF BEING ON TOP OF THE WORLD HE WAS FEELING AS THOUGH THE WOLD WAS CAVING IN AROUND HIM
1.YET HE PRAYED, HE IS HONEST WITH GOD HE IS HUMBLED BEFORE HIM LISTEN TO THE AGONY IN HIS VOICE
O LORD HEAR ME! FOR I AM POOR AND NEEDY!
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
True humility is not thinking less of yourself but thing of yourself less
CS Lewis
2.HE ACKNOWLEDGES GODS AUTHORITY
vs 2 YOU ARE MY GOD, SAVE YOUR SERVANT WHO TRUSTS IN YOU.
vs 8 Among the gods there is none like you, Oh Lord Nor are their any works like your works all Nations whom you have made shall come and worship you, Oh Lord and shall Glorify your name For you are great and do wondrous things you alone are God
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
11 For it is written:
“As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”
Be merciful to me oh Lord, for I cry to you all day long
3. He cries out to God for mercy
dictionary describes mercy as a compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one's power
He is desprite for the blessing of God that life would get easier that he would no longer be hunted like a rabid dog on a field. but instead like a loved child a loved servant by His Lord His master His God
Rejoice the soul of your servant for to you o lord o lift my soul
36 Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to covetousness.
in order to incline ones heart the heart must be declined. Sometimes we fall into spiritual slumps or serious droughts or major trials on life our souls are declined or reclined if you will think about that lazy boy in your lifting room and you got it all the way back now imagine this is your heart and God is where you are all the way upright we have fallen into a slump. We find it hard to pray hard to be at peace hard to keep going forward the waves all around us keep us so busy its hard to see the light in the mist of all the darkness
this is where David is he is down right depressed he is feeling alone this is the man after Gods own heart and the world is out to kill him this reminds me of what jesus said to the disciples
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
Sometimes when you have been following God you have been faithful you have been praying you have been honest you have been humble the World will still come against you in this instance you can know that God is with you for you must be special
for the devil is not worried about those who go along with his plan but directly opposes those who would seek to disrupt the powers of Satan by living a life in the Light with Jesus as your focus
So sometimes your doing it all right just as David and the devil keeps coming be of good cheer knowing that God is getting ready to do something good something big in you and through you.
4. Davis Asks God for Wisdom
vs 11 teach me your way , oh lord, i will walk in your truth, unite my heart to fear your name
5. He glorifies God in the middle of his storm
vs 12 I will praise you , o Lord my God with all of my heart and i will glorify your name forever more
As David prays he prayer grows in strength his faith increases and his heart begins to rejoice in what god has done already giving him faith that God again will be faithful to him
Maybe you are going through a hard time maybe you just came out of one maybe there is one in the distant future that you dont see but if i were to ask you right now have you been through are you going through or do you know someone who is going through a hard time just about all of us would raise our hands.
So what do we do we observe david his prayer in his difficut time, you know david is he was caught there was a 100% chance he was going to die if you are caught by the corona lets say there is somewhwere in the neighberhood of a 95% chance your going to live so with that perspective what do we do in our hard times one
Pray seek Gods Face be honest with Him
Humble ourselves before him recognise his authority
Ask God For wisdom and strength
Remember the difficult times God has already seen you through use that to give you faith to get through this one
Cry out for mercy
If you know jesus know this is not a one time thing I cry this out daily if you have not put your faith in him before all this that is going on has you questioning how you might make it through this know this
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
not only did he give his son so that we may not perish but when one outs their faith in christ they are filled with the who spirit whom jesus called the helper
For he helps us he comforts us he strengthens us in our time of need
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
