· 9 viewsFaith is the foundation of our relationship with God. We are saved by our faith. So what is faith? The writer of Hebrews defines faith as finding assuredness in what we hope for and certainty in what we do not see. In other words, faith is trusting in the promises of God before they have come to completion and relentlessly pursuing relationship with the God that we can not physically touch. It is this faith that changes our perspective from the kingdom of the world to the kingdom of God. It is this faith that leads to belief.

The writer of Hebrews has been challenging the hearer, which includes you and I, to stand firm on our convictions and not waver from the calling of the Lord and the fulfillment of His great work before us.
The promises of God are our steadfast hope and the foundation upon which we are called to stand. So the writer points us to this great truth and implores us not to fall away.
But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

Faith
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Verse 10:39 and 11:1 flow seemlessly into one another. It is the faith that we have that keeps us from shirking back and falling away.
