REJOICE – YHWH RULES and REIGNS! PSALM 33 – Part 1 Introduction 5th week of ‘not assembling ourselves together’ is over. We will assemble carefully and cautiously – still observing the guidelines – but we need to “assemble” (Hebrews 10:25). Apparently the President, Vice President, the Task Force, lots of Governors and a large proportion of Americans are ready to face the dangers of returning to normal life and catching the virus over destroying our lives and our livelihoods. But for Believers in Christ, the basis of our hope and security is not in gov’t or in the health care system, or in the economy, or in ourselves, but in YHWH. Psalm 33 – a Psalm about YHWH- and to know about Him - and His name – is to love Him and to rejoice in Him. Let’s learn about YHWH and be filled with Shalom and Rejoicing by doing so. • Tetragrammaton – pronounced either “Yehveh” or “Yahweh” • “YHWH is used 6828 times in the Old Testament – YHWH referring to Himself as YHWH! • ”I AM THAT I AM” – I have life and existence in Myself – the only one in the Universe • All three persons of the Eternal Godhead are YHWH 1. REJOICE in YHWH – SHOUT FOR JOY – Vv. 1-3 2. YHWH Rules in Righteousness – WORSHIP HIM – Vv. 4-7 3. YHWH Rules in Power – FEAR HIM – Vv. 8--17 4. YHWH Rescues in Mercy – WAIT FOR HIM – Vv. 18-20 5. REJOICE in YHWH – PRAY FOR HIS MERCY – Vv. 21-22 Timeless Truth To know YHWH is to love Him. Human beings foolishly reject the true and only God – YHWH. They foolishly substitute gods of their own making for the one and only God of the universe. But anyone who knows YHWH knows that He is glorious in His splendor and grandeur. He is marvelous in His love and mercy and kindness and grace. He is perfect in His righteousness and justice. HE IS GOD and He ALONE is worthy of our praise and worship. Living Lesson As you navigate your way through this time of great trial, confusion, fear and turmoil in this Wuhan Virus Pandemic, turn your heart and your mind to YHWH and to His Word which will teach you the truth about Him and give your strength, shalom and perspective. Knowing the TRUTH about Him is the pathway to knowing Him. And when you KNOW HIM you are full of rejoicing that you do have the privilege of knowing Him, resting in His SHALOM, knowing He is able to care for you and keep you in all of life’s trials, and also strengthen your faith and assurance that all will be well because you are one HIS CHILDREN “Peace I leave with you.
