FREEDOM

(GALATIANS 5:1)

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

(optional-Begin with testimony “Many of us do not know that we are already free!” How I became free from cigarette addiction!)

Introduction:

The LORD brought the children of Israel out of Egypt and into the promised land.

He trained them how to be free (can you and I relate today) by allowing them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. The LORD warned the children to not adopt any of the ways of the other nations around them. Israel was like no other nation because of the LORD who was with them and ruled over them. But they quickly forgot the LORD didn’t they? And they also asked for a king to rule over them because they wanted to be like all the nations around them who had kings. Listen to The First Amendment!

The First Amendment

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws which regulate an establishment of religion, prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the right to peaceably assemble, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights.

Galatians 5:13 ^13You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

1) The YOKE of bondage

Describe a yoke

a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull.

Describe bondage

Exodus 1:14 ^14They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly. (The LORD knows your bondage, what you went through or are going through now.)

Describe Israel’s life in Egyptian bondage

Exodus 6:6 ⁶"Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.

PASSOVER was one mighty act of judgement- Exodus 12:7-14

7 “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts. 10 And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. 11 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord's Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.

14 “This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a feast.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is forf you. Do this in remembrance of me.”g 25In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Note: The Gospel story was told to the Israelites, through the seven Holy Feast days. These Holy days also are filled with our rich history of what the LORD did!

For 1,500 years the Israelites observed these Feast Days. Today, the followers of the Messiah, the commonwealth of Israel, should still observe the seven holy Feast days out of love and remembrance of His precise fulfillment of them.

Emperor Constantine brought in a new day called Easter to replace Passover.

Satan knows that the Father’s Holy Feast days are a special covenant with His people, so he created pagan holi-days which steal away worship from the Father. I will add a link to the facts of this story on our group page so you may study it yourself.

EASTER: will be celebrated by many tomorrow. Believers and unbelievers will celebrate it.

Believers-deception

Unbelievers-pagan worldly holiday

Note: Believers and unbelievers celebrate “together” but light and darkness have nothing in common so how can this be possible if this is a “holy day”? Why? Because it's not a holy day.

Unbelievers do not celebrate Passover with us, nor any other holy day. Only Easter and Christmas, and both holidays were allowed into the church by Constantine when Constantine did not want division in “his” kingdom.

3) Freedom

a. Matthew 11:28-30 ²⁸"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

b. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

c. Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
