UNBELIEF - Sermon

Last time we talked about Belief - what did it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

So today, we'll look at - what does it mean to not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

To show unbelief, we have to do some simple comparisons.

What does it mean to believe?

To believe is to repent, and accept the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ - in other words, to be saved!

To not belief is not to repent, not to accept the Lord Jesus Christ, and not to be saved.

to Believe is to accept Jesus Christ and eventually to be taken into heaven.

To not believe is to reject the Lord Jesus Christ, and be cast into Hell.

It is the job of the Holy Ghost to draw you to God. The Holy Spirit is outside every unbeliever, calling to them. What's the famous words of John 3:16? "Whosoever believeth..." The important thing to remember is that The Holy Ghost calls EVERYONE. The moment you accept that call, and repent, the Holy Spirit makes you born again, indwells you, seals you for all eternity, and washes you clean. Though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

But if a person does not believe... nothing happens. You persist in that unbelief.

One good thought that comes to mind is that at the moment of being born again, one's old nature is sealed off in a moment of death. You have to die, to be born again. Your struggle is with the fact that your old nature, which you have died to, still is hanging on you.

You are committed to heaven forever.

So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Rev 21:8 (KJV)

But if you do not believe, you will go on living with that sin nature, your sins piled deeper and deeper. And the day will come when you will end up... where? In Hell.

That is the Unforgiveable Sin.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Psalms 9:17

Statistics show - I'd break all this down for you but we don't have the time tonight - 108 people die every minute. Here's how it breaks down. Every two minutes, 3 people go to heaven. and 212 people go into Hell.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matt 7:13-14 (KJV)

You may say, "what can I do? I can't stop this!" Yes you can! You can tell someone about Jesus. You can leave tracts everywhere you go. Doctor's waiting rooms, community billboards, at the gym, at restaurants for tips, put one in every bill that you have to actually mail... and maybe pay one or two by mail you usually pay online - just as an excuse to send a tract!

The penalties are just simply too high to not try to witness in some way. Tell someone about the Lord, before it's just too late for them.
