FISHERMAN TO APOSTLE
Peter was ________________________ Matthew 14:22-29
Peter hops out of the boat, and walks on the water. It is
certainly impulsive. But to Peter’s credit, he did ____ upon
his request: he DID _____ on the water. He DID ______
that it was Jesus. He DID act on God’s words.
But God can ask us to do others things that are
___________. At least for us. God may ask us to do
something completely _________ of our current personality.
Peter was _____________ ______________ about others.
John 21:20,21
After the resurrection of Christ, Jesus confirms His love for
Peter. Peter then says something great: “What about _____,
Lord? What’s ____ going to do?” Just a truly human
statement. One of the great things about being a _______ of
the family of God is that ______ of us has to do everything.
God has seen fit that as each of us does our part, and
together, our parts will be _________ than the sum of our
work. But our focus must be on what _____ are to do, not
what anyone else is to do.
Peter was _______________. John 18:10,11
In the Garden of Gethsemane, the mob came to get Jesus.
Peter shows his bravery. He has a sword, pulls it out, takes
aim at the high priests servant, and cuts off the man’s ear.
What do we ____ when we see or hear something that is
being done or said negatively about Jesus Christ, or about
Christianity, or about another believer? Are we _______

___________________?
Peter is ___________________. Matthew 18:33-35; 69;
71-72; 73-74
Peter twice tells Jesus that he will _______ be offended in
the Christ, and that he would never deny Jesus. Shortly
afterwards, Peter does in fact deny Jesus. Three times! We
have likely all been inconsistent in our identification with
Jesus. Our denial is ________. How can we be less
inconsistent? Assessment and _________________ is
important. Sit down and figure out where you are
inconsistent. Then prepare a means by which to be
consistent.
The more we look at Peter, the more we see we are just like
him. His focus was _________ once in a while, his actions
were sometimes misguided, and his ________ was often
running before his brain was engaged. And yet God worked
with Peter, making him into more than he was. Jesus does
the same with us. Through all our _______, God is working
to make us stronger. More like Himself. Let’s thank God for
not _______ ____ on Peter, or us.
