The Story of Scripture

Good Evening,
My name is JR Shull and I am the youth pastor at Hamlin Baptist Church. I am excited to present to you a new series call THE STORY OF SCRIPTURE. This series was created to teach the intriguing Bible Learning The Story of Scripture. To accomplish our goal of this series we will have to look at the Bible from the clouds. I heard the well respected teacher David Platt explain it like this. We need to go on a hot air balloon ride in which we can get above the clouds so we can see the earth (Bible) from a birds eye view. This will help us to not get caught up with the small detail of each account in the Bible but to see the entirety of the Bible as one entire story.
Tonight the goal is to give you a timeline in which we will use as a guidline throughout our series. Before we look at the timeline in which we use I would like to give you some information in which I would find useful for all Bible Students. When I am saying the Bible I mean God’s Holy Word. 1 Timothy teaches it as God Breathed in (1 Timothy 3:15-16). The Book I hold in my hand contains 66 books and those 66 Books are divided into an Old Testament and New Testament. The Old Testament contains 39 Books and the New Testament contains 27 Books. When we look at the Old Testament we can use two numbers 5 and 12 to help us keep this Testament in context. We will call first 5 books of the Old Testament The Pentatuch or The Torah. The word Pentauch means 5 in Hebrew and when I say the word Pentateuch I meant first 5 Books of The Bible and the author of these books is known as Moses.
