Friendships
FRIENDSHIPS
Friendships are different from all other relationships. Unlike acquaintanceship, friendship is based on love. Unlike lovers and married couples, it is free of jealousy. Unlike children and parents, it knows neither criticism nor resentment. Friendship has not status in law. Business partnerships are based on a contract. So is marriage. Parents
are bound by the law. But, friendships are freely entered into, freely given, freely exercised.

Ex 33:11 And the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to
his friend. And he turned again to the camp....
Psalms 35:14 As a friend, as to my brother, I walked; as one who mourns for
a mother, I was bowed down, mourning.
Psalms 55:13 but [it is] you, a man my rank, my guide and my friend.
Proverbs 6:1 My son, [if] you are surety for your friend, [if] you struck your palms with a stranger,
Proverbs 11:12 One despising his friend lacks heart, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for the time of trouble.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.
Proverbs 27:10 Your own friend, and your father's friend, do not forsake them; nor go to your brother's house in the day of your trouble; better [is] a neighbor that is near than a brother far off.
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend.
Luke 7:34 The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and you say, Behold a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners!
Luke 11:5 5 And He said to them, which of you shall have a friend and shall go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has come from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him?
7 And he answering from inside may say, Do not trouble me. The door is now shut and my children are in bed with me. I cannot rise and give to you. 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needs. 9 And I say to you, Ask and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives. And he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks it shall be opened.
James 4:4 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity [with] God? Therefore whoever desires to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do you think that the Scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us yearns to envy? 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says, God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. 7 Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, double-minded ones. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and [your] joy to heaviness. 10 Be humbled before the Lord, and He will lift you up. 11 ¶ Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against [his] brother, and who judges his brother, speaks against the Law and judges the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a doer of the Law, but a judge.
