God’s Promises

Galatians 3:22 NLT
22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
God has given us a promises of freedom through Christ our savior. This promise is not one with any strings attached. It’s a simple promise. Confess. Accept. Believe.
This is important because this very process is what gives us the privileges to these promises we will discuss today.
Now I will not have time to go through all of them because there are over 3000 Promises in the Bible for us as his children.
But I do want to cover 7 of them today.
Promise #1 - God is always with Me (I will not fear)
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
God is with us when we are in the midst of the storm.
Mark 4:35–41 NLT
35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. 38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” 39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
Use this storm to build your faith in God
You can panic, you can flounder you can flip or you can flop. Or you can focus. I suggest focusing on God.
Promise #2 - God is always in Control (I will not doubt)
Philippians 4:6–7 NLT
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

It doesn’t matter how great the pressure is. What really matters is where the pressure lies, whether it comes between me and God or whether it presses me nearer His heart.

Listen to this story of what this secretary told her boss.

One stressed-out secretary told her boss: “When this rush is over, I’m going to have a nervous breakdown. I earned it, I deserve it, and nobody’s going to take it from me.”

Luke 12:22–26 NLT
22 Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. 23 For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. 24 Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! 25 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 26 And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?

Pressed out of measure and pressed to all length;

Pressed so intently it seems beyond strength.

Pressed in body and pressed in soul;

Pressed in the mind till the dark surges roll;

Pressure by foes, pressure by friends;

Pressure on pressure, till life nearly ends.

Pressed into loving the staff and the rod;

Pressed into knowing no helper but God.

Let that promises rest on your heart.

Promises #3 - God is always Good (I will not despair)
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 NLT
8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
Jeremiah 29:11 The Message
11 I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
Promise #4 - God is always Watching (I will not Falter)
I will not lose my hope! I will not lose my faith! I will be steadfast in my Lord and Savior Christ Jesus! Amen!
Psalm 46:1–2 The Message
1 God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. 2 We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in sea-storm and earthquake,
Tell the story of the Buffalos running into the storm vs. the Cows running from the storms.
God covers us with a hedge of protection when we are obedient to Him and His Word.
Promise #5 - God is always Victorious (I will not Fail)
Romans 8:31 The Message
31 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose?
Exodus 14:14 The Message
14 God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!”
2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT
15 He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Proverbs 3:5–6 NLT
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
