Definition of Goshen
They knew He could
Isaiah 51:9 NKJV
9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, And wounded the serpent?
He knew they could
To get to Goshen you’ve got to get ready to go
Do Something
Isaiah 52:1 NKJV
1 Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion; Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean Shall no longer come to you.
Act like you’re going somewhere. “put on your beautiful garments”
Ill: We’ve been sweats, tshirts, chilln. We had something to do. I had to step up
App: You’ve been in your sin, defilement, poor spirit, youve quit looking at your potential. You cont to wear those same quarintine clothes and that’s what going to keep you out of goshen
Do Something
they do what they KNEW to do. He tells them, that’s old season. You’re not who you used to be. You already graduated from Middle school
He tells them to get up then sit down.
Isaiah 52:2 NKJV
2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise; Sit down, O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion!
“shake yourself from the dust” where you’ve been doesn’t need to get on what you’re walking into.”
ex. Jesus washed their feet
ex. 2 Jesus told them shake them off as you shake dust off your feet
Observation: Shake stand then sit vs. 2 “shake yourself from the dust arise; sit down.”
i’m trying to embody and live out the rest principle.
We have it wrong, we think that God wants us to work harder. When actually He wants us to work on doing the right thing and let Him work the rest
“sit down” take a seat
“Loose yourself” undo what’s been done. WS on loose the question is: who did the binding? did i bind myself, did someone else bind me aka did something bind me or did somebody bind me.
“from the bonds of your neck”
shackle n. — a restraint that confines or restricts freedom; especially something used to tie down or restrain a prisoner.
What perspective was Isaiah writing from? Were they in captivity or was he telling them what they’d need to address before they left captivity
