3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.

A phrase that comes from:
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
Recounts the Hebrews arrival at Mnt Sinai and and God’s description to Moses of the purpose of the covenant that was bout to be forged.
He said:
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
As a kingdom they would be His special nation in the world.
As priests they would mediate his reality to the world.

In Israel, one could be royalty or priesthood but not both.
One of the reasons the Maccabean kings were rejected by the Hasidim in the second century BC was that under Simon they began to make themselves both kings and high priests.
The pious Jews reacted strongly and refused to support them.
Only the Messiah could assume both roles, and thus Jesus Messiah became both royalty and priest, fulfilling Exodus 19.
This culminates in the claim that Jesus is “High Priest in the order of Melchizedek” in fulfillment of Psalm 110:4.
The remarkable thing here is that his followers, participate (as “heirs together” with Christ, in this glorious role, as individuals and as a church.
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

The “new Israel” concept is not a replacement theology, for the Jews are still God’s people when they come to Christ
“Holiness” is a major theme of 1 Peter.
We’re a new nation SET APART from this world to be God’s special people.
Here the conduct expected of believers by God is spelled out in 1:13–2:3 and 2:11–3:12
In every social relationship they must maintain their witness and holy conduct (2:13–3:7)

Special People - Treasured Possession
God wants his righteous remnant to be aware of their special nature.
They are a treasured, special people
They are His own.
Christ has “paid a ransom” (1:18) for them and they are His.
Once were not a people
But now are the people of God
Had not obtained mercy
Have now obtained mercy
Such were some of you, but you are washed......

Maybe he feels like he is reaping the wild oats, but we don’t earn your blessings!
They are free gifts.....!
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

That you might proclaim
Open your mouth and speak the praises of God
Praise the one who “called you out of darkness....”
Praise the one who called you “into His marvelous light”.
Dalton, honesty.....minister to him, reveal yourself to him, so that he knows that you know his innermost thoughts.
Speak into Lisa’s life....
When she zealously defends what has been ingrained as truth from her childhood. And like the apostle Paul anger and indignation drives her response to the beauty of “the Way”, Reveal yourself from heaven, that she might be humbled before the mighty hand of God to submit to your character and authority. And turn from her wicked” ways to follow you.
Your the that healeth us...... not the God that used to heal us....
