Where There’s Christ, There’s Hope:

1 Peter 1:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Peter referred to himself as an apostle of Jesus Christ.
What happened when Simon met Jesus for the first time?
John 1:42 KJV 1900
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
Simon was a fisherman earning a living with his brother Andrew.
In Matthew 4, Jesus tells the brothers to come and follow Him and He’d make them fishers of men.
After meeting Jesus, Simons named changed to Peter and his job changed, he was no longer a fisherman for food, Peter was now a fisherman for the kingdom of God.
As an apostle of Jesus Christ, is someone sent on a mission with a message from God.
As an apostle, Peter is accountable to the Sender of this message. Who’s the Sender? Jesus
What is this message? Encouragement, Hope & Salvation.
That message hasn’t changed, it’s still the same today and it’s just as powerful today as it was when Peter was preaching.
Who is this message for? Strangers, who are the strangers. We are. If you’ve been saved, you’re a stranger here, we the saved are not permanent residents here.
My home is wherever Jesus is.
John 14:1–4 KJV 1900
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
vs, 2: The elect according to the foreknowledge of God.
God is omnipotent: He sees and knows everything that’s going to happen, He knows how everything will end. God has unlimited power.
God knows who will accept Him as their Lord and Savior, and He knows who will reject Him as their Lord and Savior.
The elect are saved people, that thru faith have believed Jesus died for their sins and rose again on the third day and is now at the right hand of God, waiting to come back and get us.
Everyone, All, Everybody, Mankind, Men, Women, Boy, Girl, Whosoever’s no matter where you live, what color your skin is, no matter how bad your sins are, we all have the free will to accept or reject Jesus as our savior. Everyone will have to make that decision, everyone has an opportunity.
Romans 10:12–13 KJV 1900
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
1 Peter 1:3 KJV 1900
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
The decisions we make have an effect on us some effects last a few days, some a few years and other decisions lasts an eternity.
Salvation begins a new stage in life for the believer. Salvation thru Jesus Christ brings hope to those of us that have been saved.
The word Hope has 2 different meanings:
Hope is commonly used to mean a wish, and it’s strength is the strength of the persons desire.
Hope in God’s Word has an entirely different meaning:
Hope in the Bible is the confident expectation of what God has promised and it’s strength is His Faithfulness.
Look again at Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
That is a guarantee, you can take that to the bank, you need to commit that verse to memory, it’s a promise from God.
When you call upon the name of the Lord, He then with His abundant mercy pours out His love and forgiveness on those that call upon His name to be saved.
Sin = Death, sin kills , sin destroys, sin lies, sin is the opposite of what Salvation thru Jesus Christ is.
Sin = Death, Jesus = LIFE.
1 Peter 1:4 KJV 1900
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Inheritance is what we get usually when someone dies. But we can also inherit things from our parents like our looks, habits, abilities.
I look like my dad, when I look in the mirror I’m beginning to see more of Ralph everyday.
The one thing I know I inherited from my dad was his since of humor. I love to laugh, I love to make others laugh.
Most of the time when we hear the word inheritance we think of money, property, possessions, but the difference in the inheritance of earthy possessions are not permanently ours. Money will run out, homes decay or we die and leave it all to another person.
Our inheritance in Heaven is incorruptible, undefiled, and it doesn’t fade, and it’s kept safe in Heaven.
This is a benefit of God’s saving Grace.
This inheritance I received when I was saved is perfect, nothing I or anyone else may say or do can taint my inheritance.
My inheritance doesn’t fade away with time, it doesn’t become rusty or tarnished with age,
My inheritance is still just as strong and potent as it was when I was saved in 2004.
My salvation is secure with God in Heaven.
No matter how much I try, I can’t protect my earthy possessions, fire can destroy them, someone could come and steal them, they can become unprofitable.
Matthew 6:19–21 KJV 1900
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
I don’t read these verses as talking about money or earthly possessions.
My soul is a treasure that is kept in heaven, it’s secure. I believe that.
Treasures in heaven, how do I build treasures in heaven? Witness to them. My family is a treasure, my friends are treasures to me.
I’m no different than a lot of people, I like the earthy possessions God has blessed me with, but those possessions are to be used for His glory.
I’l laying up treasures in heaven by telling others about my Hope in Jesus.
