Setting The Scene

The blind beggar was healed Physically by Jesus
The beggar now in the temple explaining it to the pharisees
the healed man finished his telling by preaching to them
John 9:30–33 AV
The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
at this point the man was excommunicated from the Temple
and Jesus found him and asked, do you believe in the Messiah?
“I believe”
Chapter 10 is an extension of 9
Jesus is telling about the Kingdom, with the visualization of the life of sheep and shepherd

Shepherds, A History in the Old Testament

What the Jews knew
Jehovah is the shepherd
Psalm 23:1–6 AV
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
this what a good shepherd does
puts the sheep first
all the sheep’s needs are taken care of
Te shepherd leads the way
protects and feeds
cares for the sick, carries the lame
Isaiah 40:11 AV
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Psalm 95:7 AV
For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
In Ezekiel 34 the shepherds here are the spiritual leaders of Israel
Ezekiel 34:1–5 NKJV
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered.
The Pastors have become selfish, taking care of themselves from the riches of the flock
neglecting the care of the ones they are supposed to shepherding
Now to chapter 10

The False Shepherds

John 10:1 AV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
The sheepfold talked about here is in, or near town
multiple herds come and leave their flocks in one pen guarded by a hireling
the man lets the shepherd into the corall
but none other is allowed
so any who climb over, is up to no good
can we associate the thieves and robbers with the Ezekiel 34 shepherds
And we can associate the pharisees that thew out the man from the temple as the same
These men were only out for what they could get
like some men we see on tv
these men teach a false gospel that lead people to destruction
But the...

True Shepherd

John 10:2–3 AV
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
There are many flocks in the pen
all of the flocks in the pen represent Judaism
and the shepherd comes to the sheepfold and and the gatekeeper lets him enter
the shepherd calls his sheep, and only his sheep respond to the call
Calls them by name,
knows them well
with them almost always
cares for them
they know him, and will only be with him
John 10:4 NKJV
And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
The sheep know who they belong to
Lets look a the blind man made well
he knew the temple people were not..
Going to take care of him
guide, or teach him
But Jesus ,His Messiah. he will follow
John 10:5 AV
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
these men in the temple, he knows they are people to run from
He correctly sees Jesus as the good shepherd of Ps 23
John 10:11 AV
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 10:14 AV
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
and only the good shepherd, will this man follow

There were ninety and nine that safely lay in the shelter of the fold, but one was out on the hills away, far off from the gates of gold—Away on the mountains wild and bare, away from the tender Shepherd’s care, away from the tender Shepherd’s care.

“Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; are thy not enough for Thee?” but the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine has wandered away from Me. And altho’ the road be rough and steep, I go to the desert to find my sheep; I go to the desert to find My sheep.”

But all thro’ the mountains, thunder-riv’n, and up from the rocky steep, there arose a glad cry to the gate of heav’n, “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!” And the angels echoed around the throne, “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own! Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own.”

Jesus knows His own, and calls them by name
And nothing his hidden from the true Shepherd
Jesus knows all about the pandemic
our shepherd knows our struggles, our pain, weakness, sorrows
he does not want us to worry- makes us to lie down in green pastures- a sheep will not lie down if worried or hungry
Are you a sheep of the good shepherd
Do you hear the call of Jesus?
Does He call your name?
today is the day to respond
John 10:6 AV
This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
why? because their hearts were hardend
Dont let your pride and heard heart keep you from the Savior
