Last week we learned that trying to go back to normal is going backwards
God’s people look forward to what new work He is going to do.
That we should be seeking God and His will and purpose
Not how to get back to normal.
When things were normal:
we sleep we go to work, show up on sunday, clap hands, say amen, and leave emotionally filled.
Christianity was more in the love with the experience rather than Jesus Himself.
those things are gone
and now all we have is Jesus
we have plenty of time now for Jesus
so
If you have had all you needs taken care of with time to spare
& have not found peace and purpose by now
with time available for Jesus
the problem is you.
in going from last week in moving forward
today i want to to talk about
how to not go through covid
but how to grow through covid.
Lets pray
have you ever been to a party that you didn't want to be at?
i have.
its like time goes slow
I have been to some gatherings where all i could think of is.... how can I leave…
and I think of all these excuses
but you feel like an animal caught in a trap
some of you are caught in boredom
some of you are caught in fear
some of you are caught in worry
some of you are caught in idleness
some of you are caught in anger
some of you are caught in hurt
some of you are caught in depression
your’e in a pity party

Pity Party

Guess who is the famous pity party character in the Bible?
He wrote a lot of Psalms
In so many Psalms (ps.22, 31,35,42)
David goes from upset over his problems to praising God.
I think it is amazing that David battled this the most
It should give you that are struggling so much hope!
But here is the important thing...
David didn't stay in his frustration
David didn't soak in his sadness
David would begin to look to God.
What would happen is that as He looked to God
His problems would appear smaller
and God would appear bigger.
think of it like this
ballon analogy:
If this one ballon represents my life my problems and all … if i put all my breath on it
its gets bigger and bigger and bigger...
the question is how big will you let it get
hopefully not until it pops...
now as believers we have a new life with God
so w have 2 baloons
what if we start breathing into this God balloon
well God would get bigger while our problems remain the same
Some of you are putting all your breathe into the you balloon
Can I teach you just 1 theological thing?
All of the ten commandments can be summarized into selfishness or pride
the opposite of love is not hate but is selfishness -
because love ... according to the GK word for love (Agape)
is the act of being selfless towards someone
Teaching us that there is positive and negative pride or selfishness
positive selfishness is being in love with your self… AKA arrogant
negative selfishness is being focused on your problems and failures… AKA pity party
Now you may have entered into a pity party
maybe its because of
not getting to hang out or talk with friends
not getting to go places
not getting to work, or go to school
or something else.
my question for you is:
when you were able to
hangout with friends, go places, work or school, and so on...
Were you where you needed to be in your walk with God before this pandemic?
If not maybe
the problem isn't this pandemic, it is you
the pandemic isn't the reason for your pity party
maybe things have gotten even worse
either way you’re
Concentrated on your problem, concern, failure, issue, etc.
even though the real issue is not the ^^^^^^^ its the “your”
Focusing on the “your” (whether problems, or successes) is less focus put on Him
Politics, pandemics, and people are not the issue its you.
Selfishness is the core issue.
so when the Bible says to love others you don’t....
Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
but
you’re focused on you’re problems that you cant care about others problems
you’re focused on no one accepting you that you’re not accepting others
you’re focused on no one talking to you that you’re not talking to others
yesterday we saw how love fulfills all the commands of God
that we should care about others, accept others, talk to others.
but when you are caught in the trap of
depression, anger, idleness, or whatever
its hard to love others
“Selfishness causes you to dig yourself into a hole away from others and deepen your issue.”
today I want to talk about going from a pity party to peaceful purpose
Say church if your seeking Peaceful Purpose
to go from
concentrated on your problems
to concentrated on God’s purpose.
And as we look at this remember David that struggled the most with concentrating on his problems
and how we was one of the most successful at accomplishing God’s purpose.
Turn your bibles to John 15

Peaceful Purpose.

I think we all should desire peaceful purpose in life.
God created mankind to work, to make an impact.
Explain as you read
John 15:1–17 NKJV
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
Explain
Abide
So first live in Jesus....
your place to go to , your place to rest, your place to find comfort,
and allow Jesus to have that place in you
When Jesus lives in us
He leads us
He puts things on our heart.
He puts people on our heart
He often makes us do something we wouldn't normally do.
So
If God is your Lord you have purpose
if your doing nothing for God’s Kingdom
Jesus is not your Lord
That is why I dont go around asking if you will do something for the church and His kingdom
because we are not desperate for you
you should be desperate for Him
and when you are Jesus begins to work in you
then through you
and then suddenly you are serving the Lord, others at church…
whatever… youre doing something to grow God’s kingdom
so we are not going to beg for your help and support
So if you want purpose its up to you.
Remember the story of Jesus asleep in the storm?
Man we can relate
with freaking out over things
while Jesus is easily available.
See when the world has a problem
to get out of it to get to the other side
you got to hustle through that storm
Fight that storm, push through it,
So you see Christians get all political to fight, or taking matter into their own hands
asking how can we get out of this storm, what can we do?
But The question is
never about the storm
the question is, Is Jesus in your boat?
Jesus got them to the other side....Jesus brought them to their purpose
Teaching us that we are not promised no problems but we are promised Jesus in our boat
And if we look to Him He will take us to our purpose!
So its not
“Not God eliminate the problem, but God illuminate your presence”
when you go from pity to purpose
your life repents, it turns around
See maybe you think you have no purpose according to your staus in the world
but there will always be someone who cant see your value… sometimes it is you that doesnt see your value
but God sees your value
how precious is the soul that both Satan and God fight over it
But the problem is you compare yourself to other people
you think peoples lives are better than yours because
you compare their highlights to your behind the scenes.
and the fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else
Let me end with this:
make Jesus your Lord and not just your Savior, and see what He does.
live just one day compleley surrendered… and you'll never go back.
Lets pray.
Seeking mind of God:
John 16:13–16 NKJV
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. 16 “A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father.”
1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV
16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Romans 11:34 NKJV
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”
Isaiah 40:13–14 NKJV
13 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, Or as His counselor has taught Him? 14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, And taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, And showed Him the way of understanding?
