I Can See... But, I Don't Hear

7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey;

Deliverance is see all throughout the scriptures...
Redemption being the central theme - but deliverance is the result of redemption...
in our text, we see the Lord… the God of heaven communicating with a man who had been (in all accounts) hiding on the backside of the Midian desert...
Moses - the man who had been saved as a baby from the orders of Pharoah to have all male children killed… (isn’t it amazing that there is still a war going on against the innocent - abortion is not a woman’s right - it is murder)
while the churches are closed, schools are closed - businesses, dr.’s offices and surgery centers have been closed - Planned parenthood has been “essential” - God deliver us from the wickedness of our land...
Moses -
Midwives delivered him alive to his mom and dad
God delivered him from the dangers of the Nile - Jochabed obeyed the letter of the law when in Ex. 1.22 they were to put all the son’s that were born into the river… she did exactly that, but he was in an ark :)
The providential hand of the Almighty was there standing tall to the faith of Amram & Jochabed - God does not fail his children… GLORY!!!
Moses - twice delivered - but at the age of 40 - having been raised in the palace of Pharaoh, stood up to deliver one of his people against an attack by an Egyptian - Moses killed a man - and the thing was known - “be sure your sin will find you out” Numbers 32.23
He had to flee and the next 40 years he was in exile...
At 80 years old - we see God continuing a plan that was designed before time began...
A plan to liberate...
A plan to deliver...
A plan to redeem...
But who was He to deliver???
The children of Israel...
The children of Israel had been oppressed by the Egyptians

I Can See… But, I Don’t Hear

Ex. 3.7-8b
Ex. 3.7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey;…”

1. I See…

a. Their Affliction - 7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt
b. Their Oppression – ex3. 9b “...and I have also see the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.”

2. I Hear

a. Their Cry
Exodus 3:7 KJV 1900
7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
Exodus 3:9 KJV 1900
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
b. Their Groaning
Exodus 2:24 KJV 1900
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

I wonder if God would say…
I See…. But, I don’t hear…
Is our cry coming up before him?
Is our groanings coming up before him?
Over and over again in scripture we find God’s people crying out for deliverance and we see him deliver…
Deliverance from Egyptian Slavery
Babylonian Captivity
Judges – Oppression of every sort…
Othniel – King of Mesopotamia – servants for 8 years
Judges 3:8–11 KJV 1900
8 Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years. 9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. 10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim. 11 And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
Ehud – Eglon – King of Moab –
Judges 3:12–22 KJV 1900
12 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord. 13 And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees. 14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. 15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab. 16 But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh. 17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man. 18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present. 19 But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him. 20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. 21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: 22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
Deborah – Sisera – the captain of the host of the Canaanites…
Judges 4:1–9 KJV 1900
1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, when Ehud was dead. 2 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles. 3 And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel. 4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? 7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand. 8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. 9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
Is there a cry out to God?
Do we see the need of prayer?
Are we completely content, just a little inconvenienced?
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV 1900
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Kings 20:1–2 KJV 1900
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying,
2 Kings 20:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. 6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
2 Kings 20:12–13 KJV 1900
12 At that time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. 13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
2 Kings 20:16–19 KJV 1900
16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord. 17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord. 18 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. 19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
