INTRO:
1,440 = Minutes in a day
10,080 = Minutes in a week
43,200 = Minutes in a month
525,600 = Minutes in a year
All The Time in the World
All The Time in the World
If I had more time I would...
complete this or that
fix this thing
study more
read the bible more
do more for God
pray more
reach out more
etc.
God has given you more time, how are you spending it?
God has exposed your excuse
Not a matter of Time but a matter of importance…a matter of what you REALLY love
Parable of the Rich Fool:
wealth is overflowing
18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.” ’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’
I will spend my wealth on me
no desire to help anyone else
no desire to serve God
Rooted in selfishness and laziness
Boasted in what he was going to do
1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
1,440 is all the minutes you have in a day - how have you spent them?
Don’t Waste Your Life
Don’t Waste Your Life
Hospice patient came to Christ at 70 years old…statement “I’ve wasted my life.”
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
His life was spent on the things of this world
realized the waste that it was
Alix - died at 18, getting ready to go to college in the fall, car crash
ran her race well
glorified God with how she lived
Your life is a vapor…1,440 minutes in a day
not guaranteed tomorrow
as a believer:
you are not your own,
20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Jesus Christ gave up His life so you might have life
DON’T WASTE IT!
17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
STOP
With more time available to us now (the absence of sports, gatherings, and other extracurricular activities) how has your spiritual walk changed or has it at all? What areas have or haven’t changed? Why has time NEVER been the real reason to our lack of spiritual growth?
Read Luke 12:18-20
Our ample goods are our time and our stuff, how have you used those this week? If they have been spent on yourself why is this sinful and what will you do to change this?
Read James 4:17
How will you use your 1,440 minutes to glorify God each day this week?
