Explaining the Kingdom

last week in Jesus started to explain about Himself and His flock
told them in a parable about sheep and a shepherd
told them about thieves and robbers and the sheep
the community sheep pen where all the herds gather
these people know what the Bible says about good shepherds and bad shepherds
Implying that Jesus is the good shepherd
and the Pharisees / Pastors were the bad shepherds
The sheep hear the voice of his shepherd and only follows
But these people did not understand the parable
John 10:1–6 AV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
So starting in verse 7 he is going to give another illustration about the Kingdom of Heaven

I Am The Door

you know how you try to explain something and they don't get it?
then you explain it a different way
That is what Jesus is doing now
John 10:7 AV
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
The sheep pen is a different one than the one in The first part
not a community but
One that is out in the field. a circle of rocks with an opening.
And in the opening the shepherd sits he is the gate/ door
and only his sheep go into the enclosure
Jesus is saying he is the Door
there is only one door into the sheepfold of Jesus
John 14:6 AV
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
To these pharisees Jesus is only a man and so His claims are preposterous
But Jesus is, God the Son, who came to earth, born of a virgin
Came to die on the cross for the taking away the sins of His sheep/ Bride/ people
we are born sinners and we have sinned against God our whole lives. we don't deserve anything good from God
we deserve to be separated from God forever
Jesus was crucified, died, buried and God the Father raised Him from the dead, the third day
to be the first, of all the rest of His, to follow
The power of the resurrection, is the proof to the believer, that we will be resurrected
This is why Jesus said He is the door the only entrance into the Kingdom of God

Others With The Same Claim

John 10:8 AV
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
Before the time of Jesus there were 1000s of men who said they were from God
men who led insurrections
men of war
But Jesus is a man of peace, and love. who gave His own life to save others
John 10:11 AV
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
there are many others that claim to be the Messiah
many others that claim to be Jesus
Have been led to destruction
Jamestown, Waco Texas, Moonies,
There is coming a day when the Antichrist will rule this world for a short time
1 John 2:18 AV
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Any One Can Enter

Any Man, woman, or child
race,color, or nationality
The saint of a person or the vilest murderer
a convicted insurrectionist, murderer on the cross with Jesus believed and went with Jesus to paradise
Luke 23:40–43 NKJV
But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
But we must enter
Like this man on the cross. He put his trust in Jesus
Like the blind man “I Believe”
We cant just hang around the door. church, give , be good
We need to enter salvation, though Jesus, our Gate

Why ?

Why would we want to go through Jesus ?
why enter into the sheepfold of Jesus the Shepherd?
1 we are saved from eternity in hell
we can be with the good shepherd for ever
2 we now live by faith which puts the shepherd in control of our lives
John 10:9 AV
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
go in and come out — is a reference to living in security
come and go from their homes, and not worry about the enemy
the king of the land has made the country safe
Psalm 121:8 AV
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
In this instance God has made the land safe for Israel
In this next verse Jesus is teaching His Disciples this about Himself...
Matthew 8:23–27 AV
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Jesus is in control, and nothing can happen to us without His permission
Jesus is in control of this virus, we should not fear
we should live like Jesus is right there, asleep in the boat
Jesus when he went back up to heaven He sent the Holy Spirit to be our guide, comforter, teacher, protector, Giver of spiritual gifts
the last thing that Jesus says we will have is..
John 10:10 AV
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
abundant life , not just an existence
We will look closer at this verse next week
Have you walked through your door of salvation
Jesus is between you and The Heavenly Father
John 10:9 AV
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
wont you enter in?
