Obituary

Our family is honored to announce that Heaven has a new angel. M. Yvonne “Tiny” Watts Cox blessed the Earth for 82 years until she answered the Lord’s call and peacefully entered into His arms while encircled by her four children and husband on May 1, 2020. Although unexpected, she had been declining in health due to congestive heart failure. She was the beloved daughter of Emogene Eva Evans Watts Cox and Francis Cox. Yvonne was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife and mother. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Yvonne’s graceful influence was endless and she was a genuine servant of the Lord. Her home was open to all. Tiny’s kitchen served as her Sweet Treat Beautique, where many a dessert and countless meals had been created and served by her loving hands. She ministered to others through song, having sung in Mullen Memorial Baptist Church and Fairlawn Baptist Church choirs. She sang solo at church, weddings, and funerals but her most cherished songs were sung in the car with her family as they traveled. She found joy by teaching children at Vacation Bible School and most recently sewed angel wrap blankets for stillborn infants. Tiny was a volunteer Event Planner, having planned, decorated, organized menus and decorated cakes for various life celebrations. Yvonne was a prayer warrior, praying daily for family and friends. She was our gift from God and her love, compassion and selflessness will forever be cherished as precious memories. While Yvonne had various work experiences her most beloved employment was at Mullen Memorial Baptist Church where she served as the pastor’s secretary. She was born March 13, 1938, in Huntington, WV, and resided in Washington, WV, with her husband of 62 years Raymond D. Cox. She is the devoted mother Donita Cox of Fleming, OH, Kimberly Cox Watson (Ivan, Jr.) of Elizabeth, WV, Brian Cox (Becky) of Belleville, WV, and Darren Cox (Barb) of Kerens, WV. She is the proud grandmother of Joshua Watson, Stacy, Watson, Seth Zimmer, Andrew Zimmer, Hannah Zimmer, Zac Lucas, Ashley Hannah, Lindsey Blair, and Chris Cox; and great grandmother of seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister Frances Ann Hickman and sister in law Eva Watts. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Angela Cox Zimmer, brother James Watts whom she adored, special nephew Jimmy Howard Watts, and unborn infant child.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 ESV
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Tiny exemplified those qualities.
Tiny was such a special lady. She supporting me so much as a new pastor and believer. Early on we used to joke about singing a duet together. We actually got to do that on a Sunday evening one time.
She rescued me.
Other people gave me ideas, Tiny gave me plans.
She always managed to make me think it was my idea.
This family has meant so much to me. I loved Tiny, I love you all. Fairlawn loves you all too. I know if they could be here today they would tell you that.
From our heart to yours Tiny, “please know you are loved, you are treasured, and we will see you again”
Thank you for letting me play a part in this service.
