Trust

Proverbs 3:5–8 NASB95

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.

Psalm 37:3–5 NASB95

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

How do you get that kind of trust?

1 Corinthians 3:15 NASB95

15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

You never really learn to trust until you learn to walk under authority

1 Timothy 2:15 NASB95

15 But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Why is it hard for us to trust?

If our expectations have been disappointed too often

If we have been deceived or lied to too many times

If we are a control freak and we don’t believe that we can not trust anyone else to accomplish anything unless we are involved

If we have been physically or emotionally abused by someone we love.

Not trusting is part of our human nature
