The connection that we see between these two events, these two girls is 12 years. Jairus’ daughter has only been alive for 12 years. The woman with the discharge of blood has been suffering for 12 years.

Jesus Deserves Respect

Jairus Shows Humility Towards Jesus
Jairus was the leader of the synagogue. He was a respected man in the community in charge of organizing worship.
When He approaches Jesus. He doesn’t demand as one who has authority over another, or negotiate as a peer. But he throws himself at the feet of Jesus.
We have been looking at the power that Jesus has and the authority that He commands. Jairus probably didn’t have a full grasp of who Jesus was but he still comes humbly to the feet of Jesus with his desires.
How Do We Approach Jesus?
Remember the power of God that we have seen in Him. Remember that He is creator of all things. There are three ways that people approach Jesus:
Demanding: Instead of praying and asking God to move a direction, you demand that He does something. You make a statement that God will do this even though He hasn’t promised it.
We mistake demanding for faith.
Negotiation: God if you do this, I will do that.
Humility: We approach God with cares, with our anxieties, with our desires. We bring our supplications to Him knowing that it isn’t our will, but His will.

Jesus Cares for the Untouchables

12 Years of Isolation
Under the Levitical law, she was unclean because of her discharge of blood.
She was an untouchable, an outcast of society.
Unable to go to the temple, probably didn’t get together with many people for fear of her making them unclean.
The moment contact was made, Jesus stops to notice this woman who was being overlooked by society.
Jesus questioned it, He knew who touched Him.
No one is unimportant to Jesus.
v.47- She came trembling
Because she was unclean, anything she touched was unclean.
She just touched a rabbi, she made him unclean, will He be mad?
Isaiah 66:1–2 ESV
1 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? 2 All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.
God who is great, the creator of all, He notices those who are humble, who are contrite, who tremble at His word.
Daughter
Not just a term of endearment but an affirmation of her being a daughter of Abraham.
She has not been able to worship God in the temple. She has not been able to share in the privileges of a child of Abraham, a child of God. Now she has been restored to that place.
When you feel like the untouchable, Jesus takes notice of you and through Jesus you are a child of God.

Jesus Heals Through Her Faith

Jesus makes the statement, “who touched me?”
Peter makes a great point, everyone is touching you.
The difference between this woman and the others was she was looking for healing, and she believed Jesus could heal her.
In Matt 9:21 She says
Matthew 9:21 ESV
21 for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”
She wasn’t just bumping into Jesus, she was seeking Him for a difference in Her life because she believed that He would could and would change her.
God has the power to heal. Through faith the will of God takes effect in our lives.
Luke 7:50 ESV
50 And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Luke 17:19 ESV
19 And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
Luke 18:42 ESV
42 And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.”
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
A lack of faith can inhibit
Matthew 13:58 ESV
58 And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.
James 1:6–8 ESV
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
God works, what He desires from us is faith.
She knew all she had to do was touch Him, and she would be made well.
I am not saying that Jesus will physically heal you as long as you have faith. Does God still physically heal, yes. Is it always His will? NO.
God’s will is to prepare us for heaven. He knows what we need and sometimes it isn’t physical healing.
He will heal your soul. The healing that He does promise is being cleansed of sin if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart.
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
When we believe, we are justified. Once again it is the healing by faith.

Jesus Calms Our Fears

Jairus is told his daughter is dead. What emotions began flowing right then?
Jesus states “Don’t fear, believe and she will be well.”
Jesus is telling Jairus, I AM IN CONTROL.
He is sovereign through the storms that go on in our life.
Doesn’t mean that hard times won’t come, but when they do God will not give us more than we can endure and He will be our strength through the storm.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 ESV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
When we feel like we cannot continue on, it is God who comforts us.
Death isn’t Permanent
We see this one by Jesus raising the girl from the dead. Jesus has the power over death.
She is sleeping.
The way that the bible refers to death isn’t as a permanent thing.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 ESV
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
Paul is saying don’t grieve over those who are dead, why?
1 Thessalonians 4:16 ESV
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
The dead will rise, death isn’t permanent.
We will be raised again, either to eternal bliss for those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Eternal Damnation to those who do not.
