Welcome:

Welcome friends and family of Dottie Ann Dickson. As we take this time to honor her, my most dearest condolences go out to her friends and family. Especially her father (Rick Davidson), and her sons: Jerry, John and Jagger.
It has been rightly said; No parent should have to bury a child. It is also said that boy and man alike don’t really grow up until they suffer the loss of their mother.
So know that you have our prayer and sympathy during this time of grief.

Glenda Ruth Adams

Glenda Adams was born June 29, 1957. She passed from this earth October 5th, 2016. The fortunate among us have all had a Grandma, Mamaw, Granny, or a MeMe. These young men had the latter. I am told that Glenda loved her grandsons so much, and loved being a grandmother so much that people not even related to her called her Meme. Today, Glenda will be laid to rest with her daughter and so we take this time to honor her life and recognize the loss that was and is felt in her passing.

Life cut short

Anytime a life is cut short, and sadly, Dottie’s was, there is a tremendous amount of pain. It gives rise to the though that had you known the amount of pain there would be, you would have avoided opening you heart to it. But if you try to avoid the loss, you lose out on the love.

Song: The Dance

Poem:

Vince Gill wrote in one of his songs:
I know your life On earth was troubled And only you could know the pain You weren't afraid to face the devil You were no stranger to the rain
So, Go rest high on that mountain Your work on earth is done Go to heaven a shoutin' Love for the Father and the Son
Her son, John Dickson III added
Jesus is there, waiting for you to walk up. When you’re there, there’s no turning back. So just remember, that all of your sins are washed away. Rest in peace. I love you Mom, forever.
John Dickson III.

Song: Let her go

Message:

The shortest verse in the bible is found in John 11:35. It is two words. Jesus Wept.
It was at the time that Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, had died and Jesus had come. He saw Mary and those with her weeping and we are told that he was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled.
When Jesus was told where Lazarus had been laid, we are told,
John 11:35 NASB95
35 Jesus wept.
Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead, but he wept, because death was not part of God’s plan.
Sin and death were not part of what was mean for this world. This fact is never more clear then when death comes too soon as it has with Dottie.
So we morn not only the loss, but we morn what could have been.
I did not have the pleasure of knowing Dottie, but I have spent some time getting to know who she was.
Dottie was a country girl. She loved to fish, hunt, ride atv’s and be outdoors. She was country enough to earn the name Leadbetter in line with Odel, Marcel, Clovis, Newgene, and Uncle Versie.
Dottie loved her kids. It is not an easy thing to suffer so much pain and also demonstrate a love for others. But Dottie managed to leave behind lasting memories with her kids. John lit up when he shared what it was like to snuggle with his mom in a way that can only come from a mothers love. He was equally a exited to tell me about trips that he took with his mom to Branson and Hydro Adventures. The hotel in Branson looked like a castle and had two pools and two hot tubs.
With Jerry, his mom left him the love of fishing. Its funny, that as parents we lament that we can’t give our kids the finest of everything, but what kids really want is love, time and attention. Dottie gave that toJerry. She was his hiding place, His safe haven.
Dottie will be missed. I’m told that she had an infectious personality and that if you met her, you would love her. Not that you would want to love her, but that you couldn’t help but love her. She was the kind of person that would both drive you nuts, and draw you in at the same time. She was the kind of person that no matter when she left, it was always going to be too soon, and hard to imagine a world without her in it.
Dottie knew pain. She carried with her a physical and emotional pain that only few are burdened with. The kind of pain that is never subsides and that hinders everything you do. Even in the pictures of her smiling, there is the ever present hint of sadness that comes from the an unyielding pain. If there is any consolation to her passing it is that she is no longer in pain.
But, also, Dottie believed in God and His son Jesus Christ. She understood and accepted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
God’s promise is found in the simple and familiar verse of John 3:16.
John 3:16 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Before Jesus was led to the Cross He shared this with his disciples:
John 14:1–3 NASB95
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Dottie is in that place this morning.
I want to leave you with one word this morning.

Forgivness.

Ephesians 4:32 NASB95
32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Forgive Dottie
Dottie did not live a perfect live. She was not a perfect mother, or daughter, or wife, or friend, or girlfriend. And even though she is gone from this earth, and it makes no rational sense, you may still harbor anger toward her. I encourage you right now, make the decision to forgive her. God did, and like all of us, she sinned against Him far more than she did anything against any of you. And if he is willing to forgive her, shouldn’t you?
Forgive yourself
Some of you also may be feeling guilt. Feeling like you failed her in some way that caused her life to be cut short. Had you done or said something different, we would be her right now. To you, I say forgive yourself.
1 John 1:9 NASB95
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
and if the God of the universe, the creator of heaven and earth, find it fitting to forgive you upon the confession of sin, who are you not to forgive yourself?
Forgive others
Your pain at the loss of Dottie, may cause you anger toward others. I encourage you to decide today to forgive them.
Christ gave us both a promise and a warning at the end of what we know as The Lord’s Prayer.
Matthew 6:14–15 NASB95
14 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
I urge you to heed this.
And finally, Accept God’s forgiveness.
God loves you and wants to forgive you.
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9–10 NASB95
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
All too soon, we will all live our last day. The Father is prepared to forgive you. Are you prepared to meet Him?

Blessing

Numbers 6:24–26 NASB95
24 The Lord bless you, and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.’
