Mom for the Win!

Happy Mother’s Day!

—> Mother’s Day is a tough day for a lot of people.

—> Some people have lost their mom

—> Some people have never known their moms

—> Some people have had bad experiences with mom

Judges 13:2 ESV

2 There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children.

Name - less but not faith - less.

Name - less but not worth-less.

Don’t let a lack of recognition change how you seek God, and how you serve God.

What we see in the story of Samson is that Samson does very little that is actually heroic.

His greatest gifts are the product of his mother’s commitment.

Judges 13:3–5 ESV

3 And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. 4 Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, 5 for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

—> Yet another reason for Samson’s mom to be thought of as less than. The inability to bare children.

—> This doesn’t stop her from trusting and believing that God wants to use her.

—> Don’t let your circumstances: physical, socioeconomic, any outside circumstances that people would say you aren’t worthy effect your mindset towards how God values you.

Judges 13:23–24 ESV

23 But his wife said to him, “If the Lord had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering at our hands, or shown us all these things, or now announced to us such things as these.” 24 And the woman bore a son and called his name Samson. And the young man grew, and the Lord blessed him.
