Numbers 6:24–26 NKJV
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’
BECAUSE HE LIVES
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26–31
Introduction
An old elevated railway used to make called stops at “Calvary Cemetery” station. All other stops were automatic, but to stop at “Calvary” demanded a clear desire and signal. The train of life stops many places without a signal also, but to stop at Calvary takes a clear choice and signal.
Jesus’ stop there looked like a wrong choice—but three days later He showed that it was not the wrong stop. The resurrection makes all of life different.

I. Because He Lives … I Can Face Life

I don’t have to worry (Matthew 6:25–34). Whatever life’s tragedies, Christ can give courage and victory. (Illustrate with true account of a Christian who has faced a bad situation victoriously.) Not everything that happens to Christians is good, but God can use it for good (Romans 8:28).

II. Because He Lives … I Can Face Death

Statements of famous men who were dying without Christ betray their fear. Christians are different (i.e., Stephen—Acts 7:56–60; Paul—2 Timothy 4:7, 8). Christ makes the difference.

III. Because He Lives … I Can Face Eternity

Judgment is a very real thing (Hebrews 9:27). Many want to do away with talk of hell and certain judgment, but it can’t be done. Often the same verses that talk about eternal life also speak of hell and death: Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Mark 16:16.
Why did Christ go to the cross if everyone will be saved? He went because only those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be saved. He is the only Way into heaven.
Conclusion
Can you face life? Are your problems too hard to handle? Are pills or alcohol deceiving you? Turn your life over to Jesus.
Can you face death? Are you afraid of death? Does it bother you to talk of it? Let Jesus lead you through the shadow of death.
Can you look forward to eternity? What awaits you beyond.
