“Fathers” - spiritually mature, faithful believers for longer than I’ve been alive.

“Know” - Experiential knowledge and abiding result

BEWARE OF THE WORLD (15-17)

Prohibition to understand (15a)

LOVE NOT THE WORLD - Cease doing an ongoing action (aka STOP LOVING THE WORLD AS YOU ARE NOW!)

Why say this to believers?

There is enough flesh in everyone for the world to always have its appeal.

Observation to Behold (15b-16)

You cannot love the world and the Father at the same time

Guard our hearts to make sure that we stay in love with God

Priority to Pursue (17)

World is passing away RIGHT NOW!

Will of God is our eternal investment
