Good evening graduates and family. Thank you for coming tonight.
The year 2020 has been a season of life for me I will never forget. I say that because I’ve witnessed uncertainty on a global level like I’ve never known before. Uncertainty in terms of expectations radically altered in a moments notice.
The United States of America witnessed its prized possession in the world of sports come to a screeching halt.
Instantly, toilet paper and paper towels, became the newest, most relevant commodity in what felt like the world.
All of the greatest trendy, daily tv shows which seem like unstoppable empires, were brought to difficulty and weak wifi signals via ZOOM and other online platforms.
And even the church as we know it was handed a different platform and means of delivering good news, real news, to the people in our communities.
The reason, I say and believe, that I won’t forget this season of life is because it is a “season,” that will soon pass, and we’re gonna use it to look back on. But we’re gonna use it took back on with certainty AND expectation.
You guys are the 2020 graduating class met with radical uncertainty and doubtful expectation. Doubtful because you have and probably had expectations, but as safety, policies, and new guidelines are presented, those expectations are quickly doubted. Expectations of a prom date and night. Senior skip days to revel in. Last day of school recognition with favorite teachers and friends. Entire sport seasons cancelled. Basic day to day enjoyment with friends.
The Bible, the actual breath of God, has spoken to our uncertainty and our expectation. We can see it, take from it, and most importantly, YOU can lead from it. Hang with me:
1 Corinthians 1:18 says that the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it’s the power of God.
There is uncertainty in the cross. And there is expectation in the power.

Godly wisdom takes uncertainty and gives expectation.

Worldly wisdom has an expectation that gives us uncertainty.

The Wisdom of God manifested in men looks like this:
Christ alone. That’s where you heart needs to be before you can follow it. - Ronnie Parrot
If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Nah…if you love work and know who you are working for, you’ll never lose purpose no matter what you do. - KB
I don’t necessary need to learn new things, I need to practice the things I continue to forget. - KB
