The Storm Is Over
Genesis 8:1
In this life we are hit with many different storms and storms can shake you, it can derail your entire life. Storms are not pretty storms they will destroy a marriage. Storms will destroy a relationship, a home; storms can be very horrific. So today if you would join me turn to the Book of Genesis chapter 8:1. I want you to help me with the topic this morning. So, turn to your neighbor and say neighbor, The Storm Is Over. Now turn to your other neighbor and tell them The Storm Is Over.
To get a clearer understanding of what is taking place we must go back a couple of chapters. Starting in Genesis 6:8 and following, the Bible says evil was all over the world, but God saw a man named Noah and God Favored Noah. God told Noah that he was going to send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. So, I want you to prepare and build an ark. Not only are you going to prepare and build it, but I'm going to give you the dimensions of the Ark. But there is nowhere in the Bible where it says that Noah was a carpenter, which means the blessing that God is about to give you, does not match your profession. The favor that God is about to give you, doesn't match your qualifications. What God is about to bring to you, it doesn't matter about your background or where you even came from. He wants you to build an ark without having any of the qualifications to build the ark.
Now, if God had spoken to Joseph the father of Jesus that would be understandable because Joseph was a carpenter. But God spoke to Noah and Noah was never a carpenter. But God wants him to do the assignment of a carpenter. The blessing that is coming your way, it doesn't match your degree because when a blessing matches your degree you would give your credit to your professor. Look when God bless you your favor would never match your background. Nowhere it shows where Noah became a carpenter, not only is he not a carpenter but the Lord gave him the Dynamics in the dimensions and the measurements and the specifications of the Ark. God tells Noah that the length of the Ark is to be 300 cubits, the width is 50 cubits and the height is 30 cubits. Why is God giving him specific dimensions? Because when God brings you a blessing it is tailor-made. When God brings you favor, it is custom made. When God is taking you to where he wants you to be, he gives you specific dimensions. The reason why your blessings will be tailor-made is so that it will only fit you. So, if your blessing is only designed to fit you, then I got some bad news for your haters. Because if your blessing is only designed to fit you then it want fit them. Because what God has for you, it's for you. And my suit want fit you even if you put it on. It want look good on you because my name is on my blessing. My favor is on my blessing. The glory is on my blessing.
Not only did God give him the dimensions but God said to him go and take a particular kind of wood to build the ark called (gopher) cypress wood. Because any time cypress wood goes through a storm or stress it bends, it doesn't break. Then it returns to its original position. In other words, the storms that you are going through is not designed to break you but to bend you and not break you. In other words, if someone is throwing something at you, you were designed to bend so they won't hit you and return to your original state. In other words, all of the bending that you have been doing, you've only been escaping the missiles of the enemy. You've been escaping every attack of the enemy. The reason why you have survived what you've gone through is because God has made you out of Cypress Wood.
God tells him that when you make the window do not place it on the side of the Ark but place it up top. Now this could be a problem for most people because when you build a house you place the windows on the side of the house not in the ceiling of the house. God was telling him the reason I want you to build this window in the ceiling of the Ark is because anytime you're going through things and you are confused about things, just look up.
Anytime the stress is too much, just look up to me. Anytime you look up to me and open your mouth, I Will Remember You. The reason why people are where they are now is because when they're going through problems and situations and circumstances they are always looking down. David said I will lift my eyes unto the hills from whence my help. My help comes from The Lord.
God tells him to pitch (seal) the ark inside and out to waterproof it so that when the water come around the ark it will never come in the ark. In other words, trouble may come around you but trouble can never come into your house. God has placed a hedge of protection around you.
God tells Noah that it's going to rain for 40 days and 40 nights but Noah and his family were to stay in the ark for 150 days. Genesis 7:24 I believe at the end of the 40 days and 40 nights that the rain had stopped. Noah began to do what we do, he begin to question God. Because he could not come out after the 40 days because the water was still covering the Earth. No he wasn't looking at that. He said I'm here for an extra hundred and 10 days which made it a hundred and fifty days total. This is where so many of us are right now. We expected the storm in our life to only last for a certain time but it has far exceeded the time that we have thought it would be. And now we have began to question God’s authenticity. But today is your 150th day. It’s time for you to come out of the ark. I want you to get this. Had Noah come out of the Ark before his time, he and his family would have drowned because it was too much water still remaining on Earth. A lot of people right now think that God has forgotten about them because they're still in the ark even though the storm has ended. But he is preserving your life. So when you start losing relationships, he is Preserving your life. When people start dropping out of your life, it is only God preserving your life. Because where you are about to go there are some people that cannot go with you. You have to learn how to be selective about who you have in your life. Because everybody that's around you they are not around you because they like you. Because the more you open up, the more your haters will hate you. So you have to ask yourself when the person comes in your life, are they coming in your life to help you or to hurt you?
So now it is time for Noah to come out of the ark. So the first bird he sends out is a raven. The Bible said in Genesis 8:7 the Raven flew back and forth but he couldn't do anything. So Noah sent out another bird Genesis 8:8-9 which was a dove. The dove flew back and forth but found no rest for the sole of her feet so she returned to him in the ark. Verses 10-11 says he stayed yet another seven days and again he sent forth the dove.
She comes back in the evening with an olive (leaf) branch in her mouth.
The word Olive means the anointing. But Noah says I first sent a raven but the raven could not help me. But I sent a dove and the dove has brought the anointing in her mouth. In other words, the reason why so many people are still in the same place they've been for a long time, it's because you've been hanging around Ravens and a raven don't do you no good. I want to send you the anointed friends that have the anointing in their mouth. So that they can speak positive things to you. So they can speak life to you and not death. The branch that was in the doves mouth was a sign. God said I'm getting ready to bring you out, but before he can bring you out, you got to have the anointing in your mouth. The dove is a metaphor of the Holy Spirit.
But when Noah came out Verse 16 he did not come out by myself. He came out with his wife, with his sons and their wives. They all came out together. In other words, when you are blessed, all those that are around you will also be blessed. Wherever they may be. Whether they may be in the same state, the same city, the same town, or the same country. If they are connected to you, they are blessed. Your storm is over. The rain has stopped. The sun is breaking through the clouds. Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning. Trouble don't last always. I don't care how bad it looks in your life, you hold on.
Don’t allow the enemy to make you throw in the towel. You hold on because Joy is coming. Hold on because Jesus came through 42 Generations and he died so that you can live. He died so that you have a way to endure your storms. He said he will never leave you nor forsake you. Not even in a storm. I don't care how much the wind blows or the water rage. Cause I got a father, who can step out on the water and speak to the water, the wind and the waves. And say peace be still. And the wind, the water and the waves have to obey him. Thank God for Jesus.
