There is a word from the Lord turn with me to 2nd Samuel chapter 6 verse 1-9 let us
Pray. I wanna use for a Topic: This time is different.
Have you ever had somone to do you wrong or hurt you and you told them you want do that again
I got your number. You better enjoy that because you want get a second chance you best
Believe that. Well this is a story about a man name King David and he wants to bring the ark
Of God to Jerusalem so David gathered all the choice men of Israel thirty thousand now this
this was the Ark of the Covenant that God commanded Moses to make more than 400 years
before David time it was a wooden box the word Ark means box or chest completely covered
with gold and with and Ornate Gold lip top known as the mercy seat. The Ark of God was 3 ft 9
in Long 2 ft 3 in wide and 2 ft 3 in high. In it were the tables of the law that Moses brought
down from Mount Sinai a jar of manna and Aaron's robe that miraculously budded it's as a
confirmation of his leadership. The Ark of God represents the immediate presence and glory of
God in Israel. David consider it a high priority to bring the ark out of obscurity and back into
prominence. David wanted Israel to be alive with a sense of the near presence and glory of
God. The last mention of the Ark of God was when it came back from the land of the Philistine
in 1st Samuel chapter 7 verse 1 it's set at the house of Abinadab for some twenty years David
had a great motive to emphasize the presence and glory of God and Israel. So David goes and
get the Ark of God and places it on a new cart and brought it out of the house of abinadab
which was on the hill and Uzzah and Ahio the son of Abinadab drove the new cart and they
brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was on the hill accompanying Ark of God and
Ohio went before the ark then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord
on all kinds of instruments. You can have all of the best intentions on doing the right thing and
still be wrong about the way you do it David transports the art on a new cart which was
against God's specified commands the talk was designed to be carrot according to Exodus 25
verse 12 to 15 and it was only to be carried by Levites of the family of Koath and Numbers 4:
15 God wanted the art to be carried because he wanted nothing mechanical about the ark
representing his presence the ark was nothing less than the burden of the Lord and the burden
of the Lord was to be carried on the hearts of the Levites we can only imagine what these men
thought look we have a new card of the Ark of God God will be very pleased at our fancy new
car they thought that a new technology a luxury could cover over their ignorance and
disobedience we want God's presence very much don't we but we like to Hitch his presence to
some of our new carts we like to add him to our list or organizations to load him on top of the
machines of a busy life and then drive how much of our service is really in the energy of the
flesh I wonder so often we put forth our hands but not our heart it is not new things we need
but new fire. the Philistines transported The Ark on a new car going to 1st Samuel chapter 6
verse 10 ,11 they've got away with it because they were Philistines but God expects more from
His people. Israel was to take their example from God's word not from the innovations the
Philistines. uzzah and Ahio the sons of Abinadab drove a new cart. The meaning of the
names of the sons of Abinadab paint a meaningul picture. Uzzah means strength and Ahio
Means
friendly. Much service of the Lord is like this a new cart a big production with strength leading in
Friendly out front get all done without inquiring of God or looking to his will. Surely David
prayed for God's blessings on this big production but he didn't inquire of God regarding the
production itself this was a good thing done the wrong way. Then David and the house Israel
was on the move singing and dancing the atmosphere was joyful for exciting and engaging.
The problem was that none of it please God because it was all in Disobedience to His word we
are often tempted to judge a worship experience about how it makes us feel but when we
realize that is about pleasing God we are driven to His word so we can know how He wants to
be worshipped . it is hard to receive it in our consumer culture but worship isn't all about what
pleases us. It's all about what pleases God. And why they was on the March heading back
to Israel singing dancing and having a good time praising God and carring the Ark on the
new cart the wheel hits a rock and it was about ready to tilt over Uzzah put out his hand to the
Ark of God and took hold of it ,for the oxen stumbled and the anger of the Lord was aroused
against Uzzah and God struck him and because it was strictly forbidden. Regarding the
transportation ofthe Ark in Numbers 4:15 says they shell not touch any holy thing lest they die
he had the right intentions but it was not what God wanted. Uzzah's error was more than just
A reflex action or instinct. God struck Uzzah because his action was based upon a critical
error in thinking. Uzzah erred in thinking it didnt matter who carrried the Ark. Uzzah erred in
thinking he knew all about the Ark because it was in his father's house for so long. Uzzah erred
Erred in thinking that God couldnt take care of the Ark of Himself. Uzzah erred in thinking that
the ground of Nachon's threshing floor was less holy than his own hand. He saw no difference
between the Ark and any other valuable article. His intention to help was right enough; but the
awful sacredness of the Ark on which even its Levitical bearers were forbidden to lay hands.
David reacts with anger and fear because he was confusion . He couldnt understand why his
good intentions werent enough. God cares about both our intentions and actions. Yes David
new how important it was to bring the Ark of thr Lord into the center of Israel's life. He wanted
all Israel to be excited about the presence and glory of God. So now David finally got he now
understand how he was to bring the Ark back and this time is different yes the first time i did it
my way but this time i will doit God 's way yes the first time i active out of self but this time i
will let God lead me. Yes the first time i cause a man to loose his life but this time is different
yes the first time i played music and dance out of flesh but this time its different. Im not the
man i was then. You see the first you got me. The first time you tricked me . The first time i
belived you. The first time i fail for your lies the first time i fail for your games but baby this
time is different. What you did to me in 2019 you want do it to me in 2020 because i have clear
vision. This time time is different . The first few times Jesus went to pray and asked God to
remove the cup but the last time was different because this time because this time He
prayed
and said not my will but your will be done we this time is different
