Good morning how's everyone doing there is a word from the Lord and it can be
Find in the book of Acts the 9th chapter beginning at the 1st verse down to verse 5.
It's reads Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and eager to kill
The Lord's followers. So he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed
To the synagogues in Damascus asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any
Followers of the way he found there. He wanted to bring them - both men and women
Back to Jerusalem in chains. As he was approching Damascus on this mission, a
Light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and
Heard a voice saying Saul Saul! Why are you persecuting me? Who are you Lord
Paul asked. And the voice replied I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. Now get up
And go into the city and you will be told what you must do. Let us pray. I want to use
For a Topic: Right road but the wrong assignment. Have you ever got in your car mad
With someone about something that you heard them say about you and you made
A mad dish in your car to go and give that person a peace of your mind, in fact
You had already rehearsed in your head what you was going to say when you get
To your destination i mean you got this thing all planned out but some where between
Your arriving there something comes over you and that rage that you had is gone and
You starts to think about what you are doing and who you repersents and once you
Get to where you started out to go and the smoke clears up you find yourself apologizing
To that person because everything was a misunderstanding and you find yourself thinking
God for not letting you make a fool out of yourself. You was on the right road but with the
Wrong assignment you see you started out one way but you ended up another way. You
See Paul is no difference than you and me he was mad and he allowed his anger to blind
Him so he goes and get permission from the high priest to go to Damascus which is about
140 miles northeast of Jerusalem and 60 miles east of the Mediterranean Sea. It is perhaps
The oldest continously occpied city in the world. Dating as far back as the time of Abraham
In Gen 14: 15 . In Bible times it was strategically located between two rivers and along three
Major trade routes. Today Damascus is the capital of Syria. The very name means a sake full
Of blood, the similitude of burning. Paul was so head strong to destroy all the Christians
He was so determine to do way with the christian that he went and got permission to do it.
He was not going to let anything or anyone get in his way. The only thing he had in his mind
To do was kill all the Christians he was driven by hate and rage. How many of you can identify
With this yourself? I mean you was so mad until the madness turn into rage and the rage
Turn into killing. But as Paul sets out to wipe the Christians of the face the earth as he sets
Out the bring them all back bound in chains and humiliate them before the world so he
Could get his patt on the back for a job well done for bringing them back to be killed .
I can only imagine as he sets out on the road to Damascus he was fantasizing about how
The king was going to greet him and reward him for a job well done and have a
Parade for him and how the people would be cheering and calling his name i can see him
Now as he make his way to Damacus smiling because this was going to really set him on
Top. But how many of you know that your plan is not God's plan as Paul makes his way down
This road his plan gets interrupted by a man name Jesus in other word he had a close
Incounter with Jesus he had a one on one with the Master as with us we to had and incounter
With the Master and He changed our lives forever as He did with Paul. I see two idioms that
Came out of Pauls incounter with the Master with the conversion of Paul of Tarsus to
Christianity while travelling to Damascus the road to Damascus refers to a sudden turning
Point in one's life . It's in reference to the conversion to christianty of the Apostle Paul
While literally on the road to Damascus from Jerusalem prior to that moment he had been
Called Saul and was a Pharisee who persecuted followers of Jesus. The two (idiom) is Paul
Saw the light which was Jesus and his life was changed from that moment on and he begain
Preaching the Gospel telling everyone the Good News about Jesus and the secone (idiom) is
He was blind by the light which lets me know that once you have a close incounter with
Jesus your life will never be the same .You want walk like you use to walk, You want talk
Like you use to talk, You want think like you use to think, and the plases you used
To go you want go anymore, The friends you use to hang with you want hang with them like
You use to. i need to help somebody here today somebody here today need to have a
Damascus moment in your life so you can love everybody, somebody here need to have
A Damascus moment so you can let go all the hell that is in you, somebody here need to have
A Damascus moment so God can use you. What I am trying to tell you is you are on the right
Road but with the wrong assinment you are on the right road but with the wrong attitude
Yes you are on the right road but your heart is not right you are on the right road but your mind
Is not right you are on the right road but your vision is not right so Jesus has to meet you
While you are on your way to your destination so the road to Damascus only means an
Important point in a person's life where a great change of ideas or belief takes place
So when you do finally rach your destination and your sight is restored you will end up
On a street called straight street to the house of Judas in other words you have to be in the
Right place at the right time so the Lord can bless you and restore your sight and straight
Street is the right road to be on if you want to recieve your sight. There is a song that says
At the cross at the cross where i first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith i recieved my sight and now Iam happy all the day i don't care how you
Start out on your road i don't care what time you start out on your road you might start out
Early in the morning you might start out late at night but the only thing that really matters is
How you finish your journey that's all that matters will God tell you well done thy good and
Fathful servant or will He say to you depart from me for i never knew you that's what
Really matters to me. As long as you are on the right road you may have the wrong
Assignment but when Jesus shows up and meet up with you He will make everything alright
just stay on the road you are headed in the right direction you might have the wrong
assignment But stay on the road you might not have all together but stay on the road
You can't fix your mess but if you stay on the road sooner or later you will have a close
incounter with a man name Jesus and you will never be the same again.
As i close.
