THE EXAMPLE BEFORE US

1 CORINTHIANS 10:1-6

1 Corinthians 10:1–6 ESV

1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.

THE GOD OF SALVATION WAS WITH THEM EVERY DAY AS A CONSTANT REMINDER.

Exodus 13:21 ESV

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

3- SALVATION FROM MOSES

Exodus 14:22 ESV

22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Galatians 3:27 ESV

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

4- THE SPIRITUAL FOOD

Exodus 16:35 ESV

35 The people of Israel ate the manna forty years, till they came to a habitable land. They ate the manna till they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

5- THE SPIRITUAL ROCK

Exodus 17:6–7 ESV

6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”

6- THEY DIED WITHOUT SALVATION

5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Psalm 78:30–31 ESV

30 But before they had satisfied their craving, while the food was still in their mouths, 31 the anger of God rose against them, and he killed the strongest of them and laid low the young men of Israel.
