STRANGERS S C A TT E R E D ABROAD
I Peter
Peter introduces himself as the writer of this letter, to
believers scattered throughout the region north and
east of the Mediterranean Sea. His name gives then the
__________ to have confidence in what they read. It
also reminds Peter of his responsibility in ministry. We
should never take our ministry ____________.
Peter calls the believers “Strangers.” They may be living
in their home towns, but they are strangers. Their new
life in Christ has _________ them. Has our new life in
Christ changed us? Do we feel just a _________
uncomfortable when we are around family members
who are not believers? Or when we go back to our old
church for a wedding or a funeral?
Peter knew what he was writing about. He was a
stranger, too. He was writing from ___________, many
miles from Jerusalem. We must remember that Jesus
Christ, who now sits at the right hand of the Father,
interceding for us, was once a ___________, too. He
lived on this earth for 33 years, far from His home,
among people who were __________ than Him. But His
living here, in this world, helped Him understand what
it’s like for us to live in this world. He was ___________
by sin, just as we are. And because He overcame every
temptation, He is able to help us overcome temptation,
too. Do we take advantage of this _______ to help us
overcome our temptations?
Peter, writing to strangers, shows us the importance of
being in a ___________. We receive fellowship,
__________, help, the ability to share our needs and
concerns. And being part of a ________ congregation,
we are not strangers, at least for a little while each
week.
Finally, we need to be aware of strangers in our
services, as well. We call them __________, and when
we have some, we need to be sure to meet them, say
hello, and try to make them comfortable.
For Us:
We are strangers in this ____________.
We are ___________ when we come together.
Our family should be ___________ to new members.
We need to _________ on the Lord in times of
temptation.
We need to be able to ___________ with others why
we are different.
