OVERCOMING DISCOURAGEMENT DURING CRISIS “We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.... Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we’re wasting away, yet inwardly we’re being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16 (NIV) 1. ALWAYS THINK OF POSITIVE THOUGHTS. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things” (Philippians 4:8) “…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) 2. BE RELAXED. “A heart at peace gives life to the body..,” (Proverbs 14:30) “…Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” (Mark 6:31) 3. CLAIM GOD’S PROMISES. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) “ …being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6) “ for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13) “Come unto me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest...” (Matthew 11:28)
