In The Noise

In this time of the 2020 Pandemic, there is so much noise being heard. What is noise? It is a sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance. But if we look at our scripture we will read today, how does this all relate to noise if we are told to not be silent?
What is noise? It is a sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance.
If we are looking over media platforms across, text platforms, video, audio, anywhere that can share messages across, we are seeing a lot of noise coming from many different places and about different topics. I want to discuss one particular topic tho, that is the Christian stance in all this. Is there so much noise even from our “own” that we are not reaching out to the lost.

Acts 18:9 - One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

I want to share with you the history leading up to this moment, Paul is in the city of Corinth, after meeting up with Aquila and his wife Priscilla. In vs 4 we read that EVERY Sabbath he was in the synagogue reasoning and persuading both Jews and Gentiles.

Lets talk real right now, its like saying, Paul went to church every Sunday and had to preach and defend the Word of God to both believers and non-believers. Crazy right! It wasn’t like a once a month deal, or as needed basis, every week.
But right now we are being asked by our government and city officials to follow an order of social distancing, not gathering of more than 10 people, and wearing a face mask. This applies to EVERYONE, not just church people, businesses across the board, sports, drinking, clubs, and even a library! But we have some who are being rebellious and regardless of rules they are doing what they please. They are causing scenes and disturbances stating our amendments and rights. This is a Noise that is distracting the message of hope.

Do Not Be Afraid, Keep on speaking, Do not be silent

This is our time that we are to be making a difference and being a voice in this land. When we were told in Matt 5:13-16 to be the salt and the light of the world, we are not to be displeasing, but yet we are supposed to be what preserves and gives freedom and hope in a place of gloom.

I am calling upon all of you, you do not have to be a theologian or a minister or of any title, just a believer, Do not let the noises around us stop from sharing the message of what has given us grace, share a bible verse, share a bible picture, share your thoughts on a scripture, share your testimony (women at the well)
But do not be silent!
Do not be Silent!
This is our time as in Joshua, we are marching around the spiritual walls of this land, that has been trying to keep out the word of God, we are the priest in this walk, and the time is coming that it will be upon us and hearing that Rams horn, that we should shout the great shout, and the walls shall fall before us.
We have more promises in our lives today than one could imagine, but the promise is there, we have to get them now. We don’t reach the promise land without taking steps and walking, we can’t sing Praises to God without our lips moving, we can’t be one on one with God if our hearts are not open.
Prayer - Lord we are in the days that we as your people want to be all that we can reflect of you. Give us the spirit to walk in confidence, peace, using our lips of clay to be an audible hope of your grace in these times. I am asking that you empower you children today to be that message, where ever it is you have called for them to be, that they would be your message on the platforms of social media. I ask quiet the noises around us, and let all who have ears hear as your Word, Spirit, and presence is the truth that we all need in this day.
Final Words - Paul went on for 18 months in Corinth every Sabbath quieting the noise around, even from within his own community, we have been given this word today that with the same boldness, we would share, reason, persuade, with a voice of truth!
