Opening Story

Kyle, Kloe, Kolby, Matt
You will forever be known as the class of 2020 aka the class of Covid-19.
This is a curve ball that nobody saw coming, except the Lord.
If some ways you may feel cheated, or short changed. I encourage you to focus on the good - you will always have a cool story to tell.
When others and someday even your kids and grandkids are talking big about their senior skip day. You can tell them how you pretty much had a senior skip 4th quarter.
Either way you have made it and in this room are people that have helped you make it and couldn’t be more proud of you.

Question

Anybody here like to swim?
Growing up, what is the first thing you do when you get in the pool? You see if you can touch.
Every one of my kids have said “Look, dad, I can touch.”

Text

I absolutely love water. I love to swim. I love to be in the pool, lake, river, ocean - I love it all.
One of my favorite memories of family vacations growing up was my dad and I would see who could swim the deepest. Whether we were in Lake Erie or the ocean, we would swim out and see who could go the deepest by bringing up sand as proof.
Do you know what I learned at a young age about the ocean? You fight with a wave, you lose. As long as you can touch and some stormy waves are coming in, you will get tossed.
I believe our faith is much like being able to touch in the water.
If you think you are okay because you can touch and you think you have everything under control, you will get knocked down.
Our world wants peace right now. I world is crying for peace right now. I’m not talking about peace from a physical war, I’m talking about peace in our hearts and in our lives.
Lady in car today.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 NKJV

Application

You will not find peace in this world. You won’t find peace in future schooling, you won’t find peace in relationships, you won’t even find peace going to church.
For you stepping into your future, go far enough that your feet can’t touch. Be so far out in your faith that will experience the peace that Christ gives and only Christ can give.
