8 Joshua son of Nun, the Lord’s servant, died at the age of one hundred ten. 9 The people buried him in his allotted land in Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. 10 That entire generation passed away; a new generation grew up that had not personally experienced the Lord’s presence or seen what he had done for Israel.

Timnath-heres, Timnath-serah. The city that Joshua, the son of Nun, asked for and which was given to him as his inheritance when the land was divided among the tribes of Israel (Jos 19:49, 50; here the name is given as Timnath-serah). Joshua rebuilt the city and settled there. When Joshua died, he was buried on the property located “in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash” (Jos 24:30).
