work of faith, labor of love, steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ

Hope

The church belongs to God

“brothers loved by God…he has chosen you” (1:4)

Paul speaks of eternity past, predestination

God had planned for these believers to hear the Gospel, the Word, in power and in the Holy spirit with full conviction

Paul and Silas lived a certain way among them

“You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake” (1:5)
