I Choose To Live is Christ

In prison, he was waiting execution or find out if he was going to live or fennel for like he was going to die Nero was in charge and he was waiting his court case. He was waiting for those to come up from Jerusalem to bring testimony of against him and he was in a kind of a balance. He didn't know what was going on or what was going to happen. And so does Joy imagine was quite questionable at that time, but yet we find that he immediately began to focus on Jesus Christ at it and think about God's grace and and his position and how that God is supreme and that God is all-knowing and all-powerful and omniscient and so is he began to focus on that it led him to talk about others and Aaron verses 3 through ATT. He said I think my God upon every remembrance of you and then it wasn't until he got down 2 verse 9 through 11 that he finally focused on him. And as he focused on himself, he began to let us know that that choose Jesus Christ and so it's a choice and and all through the book of Philippians tells us that that that Joy it has to do with the mindset and really this first chapter of Philippians chapter 1 deals with a single mind focusing on Jesus Christ. It's during this pain of Dimock in the government and everything else man is so easy to get focused in on other things. I finally I just quit watching the news I other than the governor's report in the afternoon. I try to catch it. I'm not watching anything on the news anymore and I've done a couple of searches and look up an article here there to find out what's going on and go to my weather app and check the weather for the next few days. And and other than that, I just kind of turned it off and forgot about it because there's just so much disappointment. And everything that is there, but the focus is if we want to have joy in our life as Christians, we have to focus on Jesus Christ because there's going to be persecution. There's going to be problems things are going to happen that we don't agree with her that we don't approve of or that we don't understand but it's still going to happen on Facebook and everywhere else has been bombarded the last 2 days with the church deal CDC ran a big link to the article and everybody sharing it and I went but I went and read it today at and they're focusing on because all the church at all the states to stop for now opened up some what they go back to that case in Arkansas back in the very first of March that started through a church service when yet the governor state was not closed down. No government recommendations was made or anyting they made it but they're using bad as the guide for the church is on a Stihl. Be careful and Church's Auto auto watch out. What they're doing and it just really to try to put States and put pressure on churches not meeting at all. But I shared with you Sunday might my opinion and my idea if we can go to the gambling house and we can go to the movie theater and we can go to some of these other places than by George. I'm coming to church if it's just me and my family we're going to be here and we're glad that you have decided to come and be here with us. Also. I've really been looking into in times and I really think that this is a a precursor to the tribulation. In Christ coming back and I told the preacher today I said man whoever is here during the tribulation the millennial range going to have it made because we repainted our house with redone all this upkeep. I've got my pond stocked up with catfish and everything in order to be that will be a cow that will be delivered in June and so my freezers are going to be stocked up my house is going to be clean and ready and I hope they appreciate what I'm doing for them right now. But life has to go on you have to keep going but I fully believe that that we're getting to the end days and I feel like that the church. It's a precursor with Timothy. I keep calling the Timothy said that before the Antichrist comes onto the scene. There would be a great falling away and I keep thinking how in the world. Can we fall away? How can Christians Give Up on Church and Christianity and I'm beginning to see real quick because of fear because of other things that will allow us to Tuesday and it first yes we needed to be careful we needed to watch but as you can see the night, we're spread out we're comfortable with what we've got a greater chance of catching it anywhere else than what we do here and statistics are coming out as I shared Sunday is more of a chance of a coconut landing on your head. So we just got to go we got to live and that's where we come to tonight in Philippians Philippians, and we want to get down to 21 denied it and Paul just basically comes to the conclusion. He says for me to live is Christ and to die is gain and really that that's the whole purpose of everything Paul after reviewing everything and looking at everything and a come to the conclusion that but you know, what for me to live is Christ to die is gain and it goes on in first 22 and he says but if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor yet what I shall choose I would not for I am in a strait betwixt having a desire to depart and be with Christ Which is far better nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you and I want you to keep in mind the idea of Joy Jesus others and you and I change the acronym tonight to Jesus Over You Jesus over you sometimes So easy for us to get focused on me, right and what I desire and what I want, but joy comes with putting above your self and we're going to see that with Paul and I asked a question there for me to live is for me to live is what why do you get up in the morning? What is your reason for living? The sad thing is is so many people reply to that today for them to live his power for them to live is prestige ER for them to live his money or maybe their future or or whatever. This is what drives them. But notice what Paul said Paul said for me to live is Christ Jesus over you and so Paul was dealing with this question of whether or not he was going to live. I mean, he's sitting in prison right now waiting on the verdict of Nero, will he live will he die? Will he stay in prison would be released and so when we read this Hours for so many times. I read your commentators and I hear sermons on this and nobody puts this in the context of where Paul was and what was going on in Paul's life. He was really having a deal. He didn't know what tomorrow is going to hold. I I keep getting calls from people in and different ones about next week or next month or Austin my office this afternoon, and we talked for 45 minutes to an hour on things that we need to do and prepare for July for August for September because even though we're in this pandemic time goes and if we're not careful if we're not prepared and we not thinking about how we're going to do in Phase 2 and phase 3 and fees for all of a sudden when things begin to open up. We're going to miss opportunities of ministry in different things if we're not prepared, but at the end of the day we talked for an entire hour and I told him I said none of this we know because it's all contingent upon what's going to have What's going on? What's up, even though? I felt like that our was very productive. And so we shared some ideas and thought of some new things but also thought it was very unproductive because guess what none of us know what tomorrow is going to hold or whatever. It's hope all is sitting here wondering about his life and noticed that were there and I had a lot of problems with this word because it is a very old English word and I was hoping brother Joe will be here tonight so I can ask him exactly what this mean it and see if it lined up with me doing some research and stuff on it. But notice what he says their inverse, I'm 22, but I live in the flesh. This is the fruit of my labor yet what I shall choose I what not that word what is translated a couple of other places in the word of God as declare or make known as it's kind of a neat in Philippians chapter 4 verse 6. It is the same exact word that they translate there. Make known and Paul is saying what shall I choose? I want not he was making no active Choice. There was no voice in their of personal desire about whether he would live or whether he would die in the flesh. He was neutral to his life. And that's what that word means that that he was letting this know Paul had no interest of course in which way the decision might go he didn't know if he was going to be pronounced to death or if he was going to be released or if he was going to stay in prison and that's what he means by I want not because I can't declare to you what's going to happen tomorrow. I can't declare what's going to happen to me later on if he were to be set free he would go on living for Jesus Christ and and I believe Paul thought that it was simply mean that much more work for Jesus and much more reward for me if I end up living in so I think Paul was thinking through these things and it was there, but I also believe that The Apostle Paul hears expressing the thought in this letter that if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor. And so everything that we do it and I kind of wrestle with that because we know that there's two different sides of our life. There's the spiritual and then there's the flesh but there's flashier is not referring to that sinful carnal nature what Paul is having to do Paul is wrestling right here as we see for me to live is Christ and to die is gain Paul is not struggling with the sinful corn kernel kernel fleshly body and spiritual body, but what he is doing is literally doing life and death. His flesh is living breathing serving and doing this and Paul knew that he had he was in a race Paul knew that he was getting close to the end whether he lived or whether he died right now. Paul was getting up in years and Paul knew that it probably wouldn't be much longer. That he was around but Paul was running with all of his might be told Timothy in 2nd Timothy. I have run my race. I have finished. My course in Saint Paul is doing whatever he can do with all of his mind and he has that goal and he has that finish line set in his his side and he knows that he is fixing to be present with the Lord to be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord and so he was prepared either way, but he understood that as long as God left them alive. It was his opportunity to produce fruit what the Bible tells us in John chapter 14, Jesus Christ coupled us in a very Vivid picture in a very Vivid illustration that he gave us to be said, I am the vine you are the branches if you abide in me, you will bear much fruit and so our job is to bear fruit. Our job is to live for Jesus Christ. How old was Randy whether he was going to bear fruit down here on Earth or whether he was going to enjoy the fruit of his labors in heaven. He was prepared for either way and so noticed his reward of Labor there in verse 22. His reward was the fruit that he gives you see when we think about the reward and we think about this life and what's going on in this life. We need to understand that that there's a lot of lost people in this world. There's a lot of Christians that need encouraging there's a lot of Christians today as I called some of our senior adults and checked on him. You could hear the joy in your voice and their voice, you know, that somebody cared that somebody called that somebody was checking on me and it and we sometimes take for granted getting to see each other and getting out. I talked to sister Shirley today and she is not been out of her house and over 50 days except one afternoon. She finally got in her car and just drove around. A little bit just to see you around. Other than that. She has not been outside of her house and I'm like, wow, you know and so I've still been out of my house here. We stayed pretty much at the house and have it got out a lot. But but I have and so me and I realized talkin to people and seeing people and looking at Facebook and different things that we all need to understand that while we're here. We have a job. We have a task. We were leaving need each other to help us and so notice all of a sudden this reward of Labor let him in verse 23 to this riddle of lingering notice what he says they're in verse 23. He says for I am in a strait betwixt two and other words you ever been in a pint and like a rubber band being pulled in two different directions, right? All of us as Christians ought to be that way, right? You know, I love I said, I'm ready to go to Kevin whenever God calls me home, but I don't want to go today, right? I mean Joyanna, I was talking to brother Keith today and we was talking about the fact that he was asking me about are you getting to see Parker every single day at and I'm loving time with my grandchild and stuff when I would normally be teaching at the prison are out doing visiting or doing something else. I've been able to be home until whenever Mandy calls cuz he's upset or just in a good mood and I'm I'm there. I'm ready to spend time and I've enjoyed that I would love to be in heaven. But I also understand that he needs my leadership. My son my daughter they still need a spiritual person in their life. They still need a father in and all of that is so notice tall is caught between these two glorious alternative. I mean, I don't care even with this pain it going on. Do you understand? We live in the greatest nation to be going through a pandemic or death rates and stuff is not near what other countries and stuff are experiencing. We saw brother our fan Sunday and I cannot even begin to imagine those that don't have jobs that are used to buy their meals. Every time I go to Mexico, they don't have refrigerators. They don't have to run down to a local store local house and they buy the things that they need for that meal of you not have a job and you're not making money and you don't have food stacked up and all of that me and my wife was praising God the other day for a my daughter was upset because this pandemic happen when we got into lesson 2 of Dave but I told her I said, you know really and truly I'm not quite to that six months and savings, but I had enough put back to where it wasn't a big deal. I don't even think it was kind of like a bonus when he got with me and gave me flight for checks at one time and we would you like my wife was panicking a little bit but we had it there. We wasn't you know, and so we look at the American we look at everything that's going on and in Boy, yes, we live in a good country. We live in a good time and everything. But yet we also think about heaven a van turn the TV on the other night was watching the game watching them seeing some of them old songs about heaven and seeing Jesus Christ at and walking around on the street of gold and and everything and man it just kind of man. I'm ready to go. I kind of like John, you know, it was so Lord come quickly. I know that there won't be any I know where there won't be any fear or there won't be any of the things that we are dealing with right now won't be in heaven is so there's that longing to be there and matter fact Paul even had it than what you and I had it if you remember in 2nd Corinthians chapter 12, Paul talked about getting caught up in the third heaven and seeing the print in the presence of God, man. He's And he was so overwhelmed and he was so quiet that God said this is a secret. You can't tell share anything matter fact, you look at the Greek word there and really there was no words of what Call Saul but even if he wanted to there was no way that it does the Greek word this there is there was no words in the language to even explain what he saw and what he experienced if it won't eat it and he's got that in his mind and he's so much when he got called up to go to heaven and it's just seven versus that 6 verses that deal with it that we even know about Paul going but in that process he finishes with verse 7 and verse 7 is a verse that we always wondered we always contemplate about Paul's Thorn In the Flesh. Can you imagine seeing heaven? Getting a taste of heaven and then having to come back to earth. I mean paw had done something and it's something that no one had ever experienced Before the Throne of God. And so what did it say their inverse 7 in-47 it goes on to say that Paul receive. That's what he called a thorn in the flesh the messenger of Satan to Buffett me. And the more that I look I still don't know. What is Thorn In the Flesh was but here's what I do know, it was something that kept Paul from dezarie more to be in then to serve here on this Earth. It kept him kept him focused on his mortality not his immortality hit his his Focus under his need and desire for other people. And so for Paul to go to be with Christ was an achievement of the highest possible blissed, but to be with Christ was far better as a matter of fact, the original takes me far far better to go to heaven then stay here on this Earth. But Paul was prepared to face either Prospect whether he stayed or whether he went he was ready to go or he was ready to stay as the Lord will we got an old time or phrase? You know it in the old-timers still use it today, you know, if the Don't ride Lord's willing and the creek don't rise. I will see you at such-and-such write tomorrow relies upon the Lord it has nothing to do with me. I can make plans all day long I could started today working on my sermon for Sunday and I can get prepared and I can get ready but I don't know what's going to happen between now and Sunday and so weak but we just have to keep on it. So Paul was here in this riddle of lingering but didn't notice he comes to verse 24 and we see the requirement for living. He's finally brought back down to earth is there for a moment he was in heaven and he was thinking about heaven. He was thinking I believe about that experience of getting caught up into the heart third heaven and all of a sudden maybe it was a twinge of that fleshly Thorne whatever it was in his flesh. But all of a sudden pain begins to take a fresh look at the situation and notice what he says, they're in first 24. He says nevertheless To abide in the flesh is more needful for you. Never the latest to abide in the flesh is more needful for who you remember what Joy is Jesus others and you and look at what happens when he focuses on Jesus. He says me and I want to go I want to go to heaven, but guess what if I stay here it's better for you than he was still others before himself and Saint Paul reflected Lee turns his thoughts from this land of harps and Halos to all of a sudden the world that is filled with grief and guilt and seeing and everything that is going on here alone to go but he was willing to stay because Paul realized nevertheless here on Earth. I am needed folks. We need to understand as Christians and I want to hide as a child of God you are needed your need it for the Philip Road. The really nice thing about all the things that's been going on at Kentucky on Facebook bulletin board little things big things all this behind the scenes and stuff that's been happening and taking place in going in all of this everybody in Kentucky Missionary Baptist Church is needed. You don't know what it does to my spirit to see you willing to be here for our services on Wednesday night to be here for church how it encourages me that I'm not alone and I'm telling you I'm getting scared because the more I dig Inn in the prophecy prophecy has never been more real to me right now than it's ever been before because I am seeing thing that is happening. Literally my skin crawls the hair on the back of my neck stand up I asked and I have not got one single comment from anybody on Facebook put a deal on there that I came across study in the other night about a bill that is in Congress that sack. Labeled 6 6 6 that is coming out that's in Congress waiting to be voted on as soon as the house ever gets back. But in that it is complete surveillance coming out of this deal where they can walk into your house and it ends in survey without government intrusion right into your household to come in and take your temp in accordance with you and find out what's going on. And that's where everything is going. That's where the Antichrist is going to get his power. That's what the mark of the beast is supposed to allow where you can go to the bank where you can get food in this vaccination. Like that's rich leading. Is it going to force you to make a decision? Do you want to be vaccinated if you're not vaccinated and guess what you can't leave your house you just bought it lines up exactly with what them right now. I don't know. I'm not saying that that vaccine is the mark of the beast it maybe another two thousand years, but I'm saying for the first studying. Prophecy is making sense. And I'm walking the falling away. I'm watching churches. As a matter of fact, it's a tonight is proof putting number one. I talk to a preacher today that is called and talked to several southern baptist churches that have began to open up their services and every one of them report the same thing when they are tendons is not the young couples in the healthy couples is the old-timers. It's the ones that are in the highest risk that are coming to the services because guess what they've lived through troubles. They live through pistolettes. They live through all of these different diseases and wars and everything else and they have learned by their faith that God is faithful not to leave them not to forsake them. So they're coming to church they're risking it to be because they understand the importance of idiot governor and lieutenant governor in California. Do you hear what he compare church has to go to a movie? Today it's not you know where he's dead shows right there that he is not a Christian or has any sinkland to be a Christian went to compare going to a church service at sitting in a movie theater. You need to change there is nothing up at the difference between entertaining My Flesh and my body and what God does to me spiritually through the Holy Spirit when I can feed and go there with my brothers in Christ and it's just stuff like that this reason I've turn the news off at it and try to get away for cuz of the Ridiculousness of the world in the attack upon the church and the attack on assembling together and the division that it was called between preachers is I preach Sunday and Christians at and we are getting more and more divided over this thing and and and I've tried to stress that I've tried to not to belittle people that don't come fearing off of this is real but I've had to make the decision is Paul whether I lived or whether I dye my fruit in my reward is being made right now. Call realize that cook Orient while he's sitting here and it was in major troubles. And so while he's there he writes to First the 1st and 2nd Corinthians while he's there in prison Whitener not to find out if he's going to live or die seems that the Philippians are going through persecution. They need encouraged and they need to know that even though he's in prison. He still thinking about he still praying for them. When you get to the end of the book look at all of the names in the people that pause calls out as he's checking that Mop as he's praying for them that they will stay strong in the faith that they will be encouraged in the fight me and all of this is going on galatia. He understands that they are fighting the battle with legalism gnosticism is going up in colossae you start reading these letters and you see all of the problems not even in the world. Was centers, but these are problems going on with Believers with Christian. And so listen, we need to understand that you are needed. You're needed if nothing else for encouragement. If nothing else for your prayers as Christians. We are here for a purpose but then look at what he says in verse 25 and 25. He goes into the Delight of Faith. You see now all of a sudden it pushes him to fade in the first four words. He says in having this confidence. What is Faith confident? It's not willing to trust God enough that you're willing to obey God no matter what the situation no matter what the circumstance that's what faith is and so he says I've been pushed to this confidence. I have this confidence. I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for furtherance. Enjoy your faith. Here is why we do what we do. For confidence for Faith because I believe God I believe he's faithful notice the Reliance there in verse 25 feeling confident that he was more needed here for the time being poem had an inner Asheron's that he was not going to die yet that he was going to at least finish this era Philippian that he was going to be an encouragement to these people here Nero who had an uncertain temper. He had a vowel lust he had ungovernable passion my will be the human arbitrator this case and other the arbitration Nepal whether he is going to live or whether he was going to die, but Paul understood that guess what he had a greater arbitrator than zero. Yeah, Jesus Christ who is sitting on the throne of God always ready to make intercepted on his behalf. And so now through the Holy Spirit Paul had that witness of the Holy Spirit to rely on the fact that he was still here. So it obviously was more needful to remain in the flesh every day that I get up as I've been praying for the last 53 days even so Lord come quickly I wake up and I Say Never the last guess what God has something for me to do today cuz he didn't take me during the night. He hasn't taken me during the day. I I was mowing the yard Yesterday Mindy in their yard. I got too many trees to see the sky. All of a sudden is I was mowing. I got to look at and I said I was looking for that Eastern Sky. I was looking for Christ to come back and I was figuring out ways on that zero-turn where I could do most of the moment while looking to the Eastern sky and I was thinking man. How cool would it be right now moment. What time I thought if I just disappear this lawn mowers just going to go right into the side of that house of my neighbors, but I don't care cuz I'm not going to be here right? It's okay. I was just having all the fun with and that's kind of what Paul was saying power saving, you know, what as long as I am alive, even though I'm here in jail, even though I'm in prison awaiting the execution or what but Nero was going to do as long as I'm about still know that God needs me here on Earth there still somebody that needs me and notice in the latter part of verse 25 it became that this Reliance this faith that Paul. Hey, I just Delight in face all of a sudden begin to this Faith begin to refresh Paul and he goes on there in the latter part of verse 25. I know that I shall buy to continue with you all for your father inch. Enjoy of Faith. Here's what Paul said here's how I am needful to you. Cuz every day that I Stay Alive listen, it's going to further your faith and your joy and then I got the fake and you know, what is church I said cuz I've been man. I've been burned I've been having problems as how in the world does a pastor pastor and Minister during a panic when he's not allowed to see anybody not allowed to go to the doors when he's not allowed how in the world. Can I Minister? You know, that's kind of like me raising all of my animals at the house and never going out and looking at him or checking on them. You can't do it. You don't know what's going to happen or what so I've been wrestling with this thing. But notice what kept pause Faith he said that I know that I'm refreshing to you because of your faith. Play Paul said even in prison. I'm trusting Jesus Christ. I have joy even in prison because my focus is not on myself. My focus is on and I want to share that with you. I want you to be strengthened tonight. I want you to be encouraged tonight that you are not alone that you are not by yourself. I wake up the ease and all kinds of rages of emotions from from fear and anxiety to everything else. That's that's going on. But at the bottom of the day, it's a bottom-line. I always turn back to Jesus Christ. And I know he has a purpose and a reason and so papa says, you know, I was like, why do you Pastor during the during a kind of damage how well am I doing or what? Am I see you? But then all of a sudden I get a text from somebody I saw your message and it encouraged me preacher. I'll get a phone call what I needed that Sherman today. I needed that I needed that phone call. I needed that text message. Thank you and all of a sudden I begin to remember guess what their faith is being built. Is my faith is being built? Hey, I'm having to learn to walk by faith to and not by sight and so as I do this as ideal, don't got it became refreshing. Look at what he says in verse 26 your father and son Joy or faith that your rejoicing maybe more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again notice is reliance. His faith is confidence and face turns to refreshing because he realizes his faith build your other space that helps out other people in their faith and all of a sudden now, it leads to rejoice it because of their faith when I look and I'll see you know, it did my heart good the other morning before I quit watching the news. They interviewed the lady. I mentioned it Sunday that that was 109 years old and that is I survived the Spanish flu and covid-19 and she was so happy and she was jolly and and going on. I'm like wow. You know, it's so Faith read space. And what happens is we come together food for Jesus Christ. And that's what the good thing about meeting at church and has been together. Is it so that we can identify each other we can encourage each other we can sing and rejoice to God because all of our faces faces growing through this I'm having to learn to trust God for the next thing and and for tomorrow and not worry about my plans in mind is and trust him for my future oral and what he wants me to do and so as I grow hopefully it encourages you and your faith begin to get stronger. Look at what he says. He said for me is the latter part of verse 26 by my coming to you again. Look at the realization. Paul says I am needed for you and you are needed for me. I needed to come to preach tonight as bad as you needed to hear a sermon tonight. And I needed you to see here to hear a song.

Man with the first thing I do is not like it home. It takes fix me a little bit. But the first thing when I get home or sometimes with my wife's not riding with me, I'll do it in the car truck on the way home. But I go to Facebook to the live feeds shall begin to look because I know who was here. I want to see who is watching and who said something it's encouraging and it rejoices to know that we have come together. And so listen, I want you to understand that you are needed tonight and during the as there might be a family member there might be a loved one. There might be someone your neighbor or somebody that needs you needs a little bit of your faith passed on to them. I got a I got a instant message the other day from from a Preacher Brother and who whose wife has that agnostic atheist, brother? Brother sister. Anyway, they're into the science field and everything else would never have wanted to talk about God have anything to do with God or anyting else, but all of a sudden their spouses got very sick and very bad. They called his wife and ask her said I know that your God can deliver them. I don't believe in God, but I know your God is powerful enough and through that process. They were she was able to talk to him and end up win them to the Lord. They were saved in men shouted when I got that message on Facebook messenger god is still working. God is still doing some amazing thing and he needs me. He needs pastors wives. He needs to members wives. He needs young people all of us could make it influences. So I want to ask you these last two questions. Are you selfish? are selfless play there's a there's not many letters difference and it sounds pretty close. But selfless I don't care about me. I care about others in Jesus Christ, or are you selfish and worrying about you? And you only we see a lot of people in the world that are selfish man you go to I went to Walmart today to pick up something and every shell they said it's on there be remindful that please just one item of this per customer per trip so that everybody can have an opportunity why because somebody here and take it all up because their self it should be just the fact that every place had these signs was reminded how many selfish people we have in the world Christ wants us to be selfless. Jesus Christ said I didn't come to be to be lifted up and all that. He said I came to it to die. And Paul said for me to live is Christ and to die in game. Are you focused on yourself or you focused on Christ? And again is Paul. Hopefully tonight the choice will be a you choose Jesus Christ. Hopefully tonight. You will choose Christ cuz they for me to live is Christ anything else that you put in there for me to live. It is not going to last is going to be temporary. I've seen so many people that's older that are bitter that are upset because they didn't get the power The Prestige the money the things that they thought that they were entitled to or deserve and they get to an older State and their bitter. Nobody wants to be around on nobody wants to listen to them because they are selfish and full of their self. Listen, the only way that you can go through life is survive. This Panda Dimock and everything else is by choosing Christ for me to live is Christ to die is gain its as a bonus. If I die I could go to heaven. I don't have to fear anything. I don't have to have any age so I don't have to have any pains. None of this layer is its batter?
