Genesis 1:27–28 ESV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
The Blessing is the very creative force of God
God’s restoration of the The Blessing on mankind, where it belonged, through His blood covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob passing it down the line until Jesus was born our of that covenant
Galatians 3:9 ESV
9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Genesis 12:2 ESV
2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
Genesis 28:4 ESV
4 May he give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings that God gave to Abraham!”
Genesis 24:1 ESV
1 Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years. And the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.
This verse might give you the impression that Abraham was hobbling around with a cane, but it just says that he was “well advanced in age.” It is pretty obvious that he was not hobbling around with a cane because, quite a number of years later, he made a long journey to Mount Moriah and came back again.
Exaltation
Health
Reproductiveness
Prosperity
Victory
God’s favor
God’s friendship
Genesis 28:3 ESV
3 God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples.
All Nations will be blessed by you - Genesis 22:18
Destroy the enemies
Will make your name famous even nations will know you and honor you - Genesis 27:29
Property, lands and employees
Genesis 13:2 ESV
2 Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
Genesis 13:6 ESV
6 so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,
Genesis 26:13–14 NKJV
13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; 14 for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.
Everything shifted for Abraham after he had an encounter with Melchizedek
Genesis 14:18–20 NKJV
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; 20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.
Hebrews 7:1–3 NKJV
1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,” 3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
What is “the blessing of Abraham”? Abraham was blessed “in all things,” so the blessing covers all things. In this connection, Paul said that we must receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. I believe this means that we can receive the blessing only through receiving the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the administrator of all our blessed inheritance.
God’s friendship with Abraham
3 Times (2 Chron. 20:7; Isa. 41:8; James 2:23;)
James 2:23 ESV
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.
Isaiah 41:8 ESV
8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend;
Thus, friendship with God begins by being reconciled to Him through faith in Christ. It requires being available for the relationship and being hospitable toward the Lord
Thank You, Jesus, for Your work on the cross. I proclaim that I receive by faith the promise of the Holy Spirit—“the blessing of Abraham,” covering all areas of my life—because Jesus was made a curse that I might enter into the blessing. Amen.
Finally, Lord, we thank You that through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we have passed out from under the curse and entered into the blessings of Abraham whom You blessed in all things: exaltation, health, reproductiveness, prosperity, victory, God’s favor and God’s friendship
