Introduction: The Son in whom God is well pleased is about to face harsh temptation at the hands of satan. Verse 1 from last week reminds us that it is God’s idea. God is well pleased. Is Jesus well prepared? The Holy Spirit led Him into battle to find out.

VERSE 2 “Compromised Condition”

to be hungry v. — to be or become in need or want of food; especially when experiencing hunger pangs.

VERSE 3 “Construct of Character”

Tempter: to test v. — to put to the test in order to ascertain the nature of something, including imperfections, faults, or other qualities.

VERSE 4 “Complete Counsel”

VERSE 5 “Common Church” Give God a try.

to put (place) v. — to move and set into a certain place or abstract location.

VERSE 6 “Counterproductive Cast”

to throw (move) v. — to move violently, energetically, or carelessly.
