Focus = Facts

Last week, we dealt with being distracted from the main attraction.
We dealt with Delight and Abide
Abide and Delight
Today I want to talk to your fears and uncertainties.
I know you hear me about delighting and abiding…
What about your, what if’s and Buts
In Matthew 6, Jesus is teaching about our treasures
Matthew 6:19–21 ESV
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:24 ESV
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew 6:25 ESV
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Do not be anxious - to worry, to be concerned with.
About your life… Everyday life… What is every day life:
What you will eat
What you will drink
What you will put on
Is not life more than food? Is life more than clothing?
Matthew 6:26 ESV
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Look at the birds…
They neither sow or reap / nor gather into barns
Yet, our heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they?
Stop and take a moment! To God you are valuable… I am his possession.
You will never appreciate His provision until you understand your value!
Matthew 6:27 ESV
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Jesus has some questions for us!
Anxiety cannot prolong one’s life beyond the allotted time.
This question speaks to my will and desires that want to be in Control
I;’m powerless in this area and He knows it.
He knows no one could answer this question.
I become anxious when things are out of my control…
I’m use to be in charge
I’m use to figuring things out my way
I’m use to being independent
Matthew 6:28–29 ESV
And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow
they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you,
toil: Work hard or Spin: spin yarn / make clothing
Matthew 6:30 ESV
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
O you of little faith?
Anxiousness is a sign of faithlessness
Jesus is asking a question. Are you of little faith?
Matthew 6:31–32 ESV
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
We must go back to Jesus teaching about our treasure!
You can love God and money but you need money to but food and clothing;
Your heavenly father knows you need them all.....
He knows
If I'm your life you are going through And you don't know really what to do Just call in Jesus, he will see you through
If there's a trial to that had come your way And you are looking for a brighter day Just call in Jesus, he will make a way
For he knows Jesus he knows
How much you can bear
Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“But” instead of being distracted on your need focus on your mission
Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness
Focus on abiding and delighting
