Isa 42:1  Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. 

Isa 42:2  He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 

Isa 42:3  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. 

Isa 42:4  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. 

Isa 42:5  Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: 

Isa 42:6  I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 

Isa 42:7  To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 

Isa 42:8  I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 

Jesus in the Synagogue reveals to the Jews that he has come to full fill this scripture in Luke 4:16-21.

We praise God the Father for Jesus who was sent to a people who even though created in His image, was disconnected from Him through sin and disobedience.

Note Jesus was sent to a broken world with generations of disobedience and failed attempts to redeem man.

However the writer of Hebrews states to us in Hebrews 10:4-5 that the blood of goats and lambs could not atone man’s sin but the sinless body of Christ being sacrificed gave mankind redemption.

Jesus came to the world as the appliance repairman.

You have reported the appliance failure and they know what unit if broken and usually will have the replacement parts in the truck or van.

Note God says to Israel that I will take out that stony heart and give you a heart of flesh.

Eze 36:25  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 

Eze 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 

Eze 36:27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 

6. Read verse 1-4 Jesus will come to set right man’s sinful condition and justify man with God.

7. Remember the Sears repairman, he came with a smile to repair your appliance. Because Sears products came with a “satisfaction guarantee.

8. God says thru Jesus it is time to replace and not just patch up.

9. I’ve been sending my judges and prophets and seers for time after times to patch your sins up......

10. It gets to the point that the appliance can no longer be patched up but the home owner needs a replacement. A new unit with a better guarantee.

11. Hebrews 8 says that God had to give us a new covenant because the Old had faults in it. But God in His redeeming wisdom gave us a new covenant with better promises.

Heb 8:7  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 

Heb 8:8  For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 

Verse 6 says :

Heb 8:6  But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 

We were already patched up when Jesus came.

Isa 42:3

  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. 

Jesus took all of my patch up and put it on the cross.

Buried them in the grave

Rose on the third day and said all authority is in his name .....he has the authority to order me a new life, a new covenant and a new heart.

He told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the new unit to arrive....the Holy Ghost came as fire...........
