Call to worship
17 I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
Giving
10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

Text of the week:
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. 13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said, 16 “Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17 for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”
18 (Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. 19 And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms:
‘Let his dwelling place be desolate,
And let no one live in it’;
and,
‘Let another take his office.’
21 “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
23 And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen 25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” 26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

here are the 11 men and the women who went to the cross with Jesus.
I wonder how many times we miss God because we refuse to obey.
22 So Samuel said:
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
He also has rejected you from being king.”
24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.
obedience is better than sacrifice.
have you ever disobeyed the Lord? I have!
In study this week for this sermon I read a few chapters in a book called “Revival God’s Way.”
in this book brother Lenard Ravenhill stated that more than anything else unrepresented sin will eclipse Godly Joy.
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
a lack of repentance will kill my joy and zap my energy.
1 He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
a lack of being teachable will break you.
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

there are two Prophecies here.
let His dwelling place desolate
let another take his office.
25 Let their dwelling place be desolate;
Let no one live in their tents.
8 Let his days be few,
And let another take his office.

21 “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

while we are not going to be one of the 12 men and women of God surrender to the ministry every day.
the scripture is clear about a few things:
Just because something is supernatural doesn't mean that it has to be mystical.
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
there is nothing mystical about: 1) the day of Pentecost. it’s next week on your calendar. 2) there is nothing mysterious about being present in the upper room and making obedience to Christ. 3) there is nothing mystical about being in one accord, its detailed and excruciating work.
in order to walk in this kind of unity one has to be:
rigorously honest about your own proclivity to be in the flesh ( or be wrong)
one has to be forgiving when wrong.
one has to put God first and self second. yes I have gits but my gifts are not the only gifts God is going to use.
it is also important to note that casting lots was never used again.
after this The Holy Spirit lead them.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:
3. take time to allow yourselves to be developed.
3. take time to allow yourselves to be developed.
22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.
5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
we are called to not lay hands on any man quickly. give yourselves time to develop.
be of service in other ways.
give yourselves time to learn and grow.
when you become a leader you become a person of response ability

Pentecostal power takes personal preparation.
God Has a time and a season for you.
He wastes nothing ( no time is wasted)
obedience is vital to moving in God.
being taught and teachable is hugely important.
