It has been a rough couple of months! On this night of our first face to face meeting since late march, many of us have been scared, frustrated, overwhelmed and even angry. The threat of a disease we know little about, compounded be an opportunistic and sometimes even despotic government has frazzled nerves and shattered patience.
Adding to the pressure, believers have had to deal with trying to home school public school children, keep everybody safe by complying to ever changing health guidelines. We have had to do all of that without the benefit of face to face fellowship until now.
As I was searching the scriptures trying to find God’s message for us this evening Isaiah 54:17 jumped out at me.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; And every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
This is a cool passage, but it is written in the Old Testament and primarily to the Nation of Israel. Is there anything here for us? As I continued to pray and study I was drawn to the last part of the verse. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord… not just Israel.. but those servants of God who’s righteousness comes from Him. With that in mind I started studying the whole chapter. I found that the first three verses were specifically about the Nation of Israel, but verses 4-17 can be applied to Any Servant of God in any Dispensation.
As we drag our tired souls into the assembly this evening, let us take courage as we discover anew the Heritage of the Servants of the Lord.
Fear and Shame Are Abolished.
Fear and Shame Are Abolished.
Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: Neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: For thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, And shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
Your past is under the Blood.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I waited patiently for the Lord; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
The world may be able to find a skeleton in your closet, but Jesus as taken away the sins of your youth.
Your Creator is Your Redeemer.
Your Creator is Your Redeemer.
For thy Maker is thine husband; The Lord of hosts is his name; And thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were printed in a book!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead In the rock for ever!
For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
You Were Called By Mercy.
You Were Called By Mercy.
For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, And a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
For a small moment have I forsaken thee; But with great mercies will I gather thee.
God’s Kindness Toward You is Everlasting.
God’s Kindness Toward You is Everlasting.
In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; But with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, Saith the Lord thy Redeemer.
For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; So have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
For the mountains shall depart, And the hills be removed; But my kindness shall not depart from thee, Neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, Saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Poverty is Temporary, God’s Riches are Eternal
Poverty is Temporary, God’s Riches are Eternal
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, And lay thy foundations with sapphires.
And I will make thy windows of agates, And thy gates of carbuncles, And all thy borders of pleasant stones.
And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
You Have an Heritage of Peace to Pass on.
You Have an Heritage of Peace to Pass on.
And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; And great shall be the peace of thy children.
Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
God Will Protect You as His Precious Child.
God Will Protect You as His Precious Child.
Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: Whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Behold, I have created the smith That bloweth the coals in the fire, And that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the waster to destroy.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; And every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
