The testimony of God is everywhere
The testimony of God is everywhere
Psalm 19: 1-6,”
1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Can you think about this for one moment? Humans, we are knowledgeable of sin. We experience lapses, and failures. Minor ones that is. I am not talking about a lapse in our faith and a departure or apostasy. I am talking about, that we make mistakes.
But the Scripture here says, “the heavens declare the glory of God”.
Imagine with me:
What is it like, to be like a flower. To be part of the heavens in the physics sense of existence, the part of it, that gives glory to God, continually, like a flower. And like a flowing stream of water. These things, they don’t know what it means to have to suffer lapses, and stumbles. They just exist and give glory to God.
The heart of a Christian, is realized in God’s grace. Grace that not only meets the needs for being forgiven, but grace, that changes our nature, to do what the nature of God loves.
The heavens, the speak. It pours out the truth. The truth of God, is not hidden even from the most closed countries, and most socialistic countries that close themselves out from any human being that would publicly promote or state that they don’t believe in the government as god, but that God is transcendent and sovereign. Even in these communist and despot countries, God, has provided a means that these governments cannot escape from. The sun shines there. The heavens pour out speech of the divine being. The words of God testify even here.
The Law Converts You
The Law Converts You
Psalm 19: 7-11, “
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the LORD are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
The law of God is perfect. It is not perfect to man in his sinful state by man’s judgment. And man is not the one who affirms it to make it that way. God’s law is perfect, because it’s from Him and meets the nature of and character of God. It can meet the needs of man. It can guide their minds and heart.
In the new covenant, the law is not something to live by, and neither in the Old Testament, when the heart is not right with God. It is not possible to keep it. But when the heart is right with God, the saved believer rejoices, in the light and rejoices in how the law is so wonderful. Because the nature of the Spirit
The law of the Lord, and the effect of salvation that it produces, and the crying out to God, causes that the law be more desired than gold. And a sweeter taste than honey.
You ask, “how does the law produce salvation?” Well, it is the law that causes the breaking and crying out for the righteousness that it stands by and cannot give. It drives you to Jesus and you rejoice, because God is righteous, and his law is good! It causes fear, because it shows his holiness, it gives you light to your eyes, because your eyes turn from your sins.
It causes endurance, because it keeps you enduring in the light.
It warns, it tells you the truth.
The Law Discerns You
The Law Discerns You
English Standard Version Psalm 19
12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
You have to look somewhere. You cannot have the power to discern your own life.
Jeremiah 17:9 states, “The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
But God, can come to you and discern you, to you. And when it happened to David, when he meditated on the word of God, it changed him, it caused him to feel the guilt of his life and his heart. He prayed and asked God to work grace and declare him forgiven and innocent of faults that he (David) was not able to find or see.
Paul even said, that he did not see himself as guilty, but that that he didn’t think this, did not mean that he was not guilty of some hidden and evil crime or sin.
Do you have a heart like David or Paul, that asks God to show them hidden evils and sins that they are not aware of?
If we are saved before, from sinning small or great, it will save us a lot of stress in life.
David ends by asking God to watch over his mouth, and that his mouth and his meditations, and what he thinks about would be honoring to God. Remember you mind may be more hideous to God, than you think. As God to cleanse your mind! To tell you things you don’t know.
David wants to be acceptable in Gods eyes. and declares God to be his rock, his strength and the one who can redeem his sinful life and make something of his life, even though he has failed God many times.
