Lord, if you had been there! (John 11:21) “But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” “Before and After” Rev. Dr. Larry W. Tieman, Sr. Pastor May 31, 2020 “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” Don’t you love “Before” and “After” pictures! (Show several) Forget what you believe about death, about suffering, about failure An “After” picture of a life in ruins: There is always a way out with God! There is always hope! 9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. 10 My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak. 11 Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors; I am a dread to my friends those who see me on the street flee from me. 12 I am forgotten by them as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery. (NIV) 14 But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. 16 Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love. (NIV) There are some things that never change; that you can always trust! God’s love, God’s Word, God’s presence, God’s power to redeem the worst situation. Is this an “After” time for you? If there is a God, then hopelessness and brokenness cannot have the last word! 14 But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. 16 Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love. (NIV)
