Hebrews 10:19-39

Grasping the function of the high priest to understand Hebrews

 He must remove the sin barrier

 He must bring man to God

 He must make the union permanent

5 basic concepts involved with reconciliation

 It presupposes a need

 There is a standard to reconciliation

 There is a means of getting it done

 It must affect a change on someone

 It lays responsibility on the believer

The focus of the consequences of having been reconciled

 Focus on our privileges 10:19-22

 Focus on our duty 10:23-25

 Focus on our peril 10:26-31

o He presents an hypothetical case

o Trodden under foot the Son of God. This is contempt for salvation.

o Counted the blood of the covenant as unclean—that says Christ’s death is no different from any other man

o You have insulted the Holy Spirit

 Focus on our encouragement 10:32-39

o Note the mental attitude to overcome, v. 34
