HOOK
HOOK
Yesterday here at The Message we talked about “why do people get sick?”
We learned that the cause of sickness may be self-inflicted, punishment to sin, Satan may cause it, to fulfill God’s purpose, or God allows sickness so that His works might be displayed- and Him be glorified
From the passage yesterday we pulled out a couple of things:
GOD ALLOWS SICKNESS SO THAT HIS WORKS MIGHT BE DISPLAYED
JESUS IS MY GREAT HEALER
Let’s continue to see what ensued afterwards— we’ll pick it up from verse 13 today
Open your Bible to John 9:13-17, one you got there type Amen!

13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.” 16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.

THIS MAN IS NOT FROM GOD, FOR HE DOES NOT KEEP THE SABBATH
In many occasions, Jesus performed miracles on a Sabbath— that made the Pharisees furious for in the law, Sabbath should be a day of rest and no one should do any kind of work
The 7 Miracles that Jesus Performed on a Sabbath are the following:
Jesus heals Peter’s Mother-in-law [MARK 1:29-31]
Jesus heals a man with a withered hand [MARK 3:1-6]
Jesus heals a man born blind [JOHN 9:1-16]
Jesus heals a crippled woman [LUKE 13:10-17]
Jesus heals a man with dropsy [LUKE 14:1-6]
Jesus drives out an evil spirit [MARK 1:21-28]
Jesus heals a lame man by the pool of Bethesda [JOHN 5:1-18]
Why did the Pharisees hated Jesus for doing these miracles on a Sabbath?
Let’s take a look what the law says about Sabbath— [GENESIS 2:1-3, EXODUS 20:8-11, DEUTERONOMY 5:12-15]
What did Jesus said about the Sabbath?
27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
Who changed the Sabbath day of rest from Saturday to Sunday?
Certainly it was not the Bible— you cannot see anything in the Bible that moved the Sabbath day of rest from Saturday to Sunday
It begun sometime in the 4th Century that Constantine the Great decreed Sunday as rest day— Roman empire
The council of Laodicea urged Christians to honor Sunday as rest day
In honor of the day when Jesus resurrected
