Introduction - What do you want out of life?

Big Idea: Our goal in life is to know God as He wants to be known, to know God as He has revealed Himself.
John 17:3 NIV
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Our goal is to know the Father. But to know the Father, we have to know Jesus.
John 1:18 NIV
18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Jesus is the way to knowing the Father.
Matthew 11:27 NIV
27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Jesus reveals the Father and sent the Spirit to us.
John 16:5–15 NIV
5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. 12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
We all want to know, “What is God like? Do we really know? Does He care?”
The Trinity matters because God as Trinity, exists eternally in loving relationship as Father, Son, and Spirit. Jesus made it possible for us to know the Trinity and to participate in the loving relationship of the Trinity.
The Father, Son and Spirit work to benefit us and make our lives satisfying and worthwhile as we live in relationship with the Trinity.
Ephesians 1:3–6 NIV
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

1. The Father blesses us Ephesians 1:3-6

With every spiritual blessing Ephesians 1:3

By giving us a new identity “in Christ” Ephesians 1:3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

By delighting in us. Ephesians 1:5b

Ephesians 1:7–12 NIV
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

2. The Son redeems us Ephesians 1:7-12

Redemption is a packed term. It includes.

By providing forgiveness of our sins Ephesians 1:7

By lavishing us with the Father’s favor. Ephesians 1:8

Ephesians 1:13–14 NIV
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

3. The Spirit seals us. Ephesians 1:13

He establishes we belong to God’s family. Ephesians 1:13

The Father sent Jesus to pay for our sin and make us acceptable. When we believe it, He unconditionally accepts us. In our new relationship Jesus continually works on our behalf.
Therefore we have full access to our Father.
Jesus paid for our sin once for all, His sacrifice satisfying the Father to make us acceptable. He now lives making intercession for us, representing us before the Father.
The Spirit showed us our need for Jesus, drew us unto Him and helped us believe what Jesus did. The Father, at Jesus’s request, sent Him to live within us at the moment of our salvation. He now lives within us and prays for us, to fill us with the godly qualities we call the fruit of the Spirit, He leads us, teaches us all things and perhaps most important of all cries out in our hearts over and over that we have a loving family with God as our Daddy-Father.
We know this because Jesus came into the world for us.
Take aways:
Do you know God? Have you believed what He did for you? If not, believe today.
Worship the Father, Son and Spirit each day.
Depend upon the Father, Son and Spirit for all your needs.
Continually seek what you need from the Father, resting in our identification with Jesus and listening to the Spirit.
