Mission and Vision

Apostle’s creed

What are you doing?

Pray
Today I had a sermon prepared to discuss the final phrases of the apostles creed… however… I think that it would be irresponsible of me to keep on trucking through my agenda when the world is on fire
I don’t loose much sleep… you can ask My wife. Usually I say goodnight and i’m out. I lost sleep last night. I was praying and asking God what is it that he wants me to say to his people in Plainville KS.
I was drawn to the words of Christ. Sorry for my people who are watchin online, I didn’t have time to work up the slides so if you’ve got a bible, open up to the book of Matthew 5
Read Sermon on the Mount
Listening to the words of Jesus here… is this you?
Are the things that Christ points us toward in this sermon… are those the things that matter to you?
We are living through historic times
I didn’t think it would be spiritually responsible to just continue with my sermon series like the country isn’t crying in pain
There are hurting people protesting all over the world right now.
There are hurting who have become the victims of senseless violence and destruction because as we know Hurt people hurt people
We are trying to navigate an exit strategy for a global pandemic and
We have ideas and ideologies in place
We come at situations with theological debates that are really just excuses for our inaction or justifications for our own opinions
But listening to the words of Jesus… these are red words. What are you doing?
Because I’ll be real honest with you Christian… This time of quarantine has done a lot to expose our hearts
God gave us quarantine as a time where we could spend unadulterated time in his presence. Listening to his voice without all the everyday hustle and bustle
You would think that a people that went into quarantine spiritually tired would come out filled
I’m just not seeing it
Today is the day of Pentecost
That is the day the Jews celebrated the giving of the law
In the book of Acts we see that people from all over the jewish diaspora were in Jerusalem for the celebration
The Holy Spirit fell on the church body at pentecost and the believers who were meeting in the upper room were given the ability to speak the languages of the people
we see this reversal of the tower of babel
God the Spirit giving unity to this mixed bag of races and ages.
So that we could live into the identity that Jesus gave us in his ministry
Build your house on the rock
Everyone who hears these words and does them will be like the wise men who built his house on the rock
You will be blessed in your doing
In not just talking about it
Guys, there’s no room for Nominal Christianity. Are you going to do it?
