Legacy of Faith

Legacy is not a word we use often - unless it’s a sports team
Where have come from
Where I am going
What will i leave behind
Hebrews 12:1 CSB
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,
When I first started ministry - my boss shared this Psalm and it has has shaped my ministry ever since
Psalm 71 - the aging Psalm
Lifelong Refuge
God has always been my refuge
Psalm 71:1–3 CSB
Lord, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced. In your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me. Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.
Lifelong Refuge
Rock of habitation
Lifelong Friend
Psalm 71:5–6 CSB
For you are my hope, Lord God, my confidence from my youth. I have leaned on you from birth; you took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always about you.
Lifelong Friend
I met Jesus at 5 yrs old
I have not always been faithful, but He has
He has always been my hope
Lifelong Hope
Psalm 71:14–15 CSB
But I will hope continually and will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up.
Lifelong Hope
I cannot begin to list His faithfulness
All He has brought me through
Lifelong Purpose
Psalm 71:18 CSB
Even while I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, while I proclaim your power to another generation, your strength to all who are to come.
Lifelong Purpose
The greatest thing I can leave my kids is faith
The greatest name I can leave this world with is Jesus
It is not my kingdom that is being built
It is not my Legacy I am leaving
It is and has always been about Jesus
What are you leaving behind
If you didn’t come from a legacy of faith - start one now - your kids, your church, your community
Hebrews 12:1–2 CSB
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
