Intro:

Chapter 4
We saw Cain murder his brother Abel
We saw that Seth was born.
When Seth was born, people starting calling upon the name of the LORD.
Chapter 5
It was all genealogy, it shows us how Noah came to be.

Lets Go

V.1-4
Sons of God...
There’s different ideas about who these people were.
One of the ideas is that these were mighty men who were striving for fame and stuff, and were controlled by demons. So, they were demon possessed.
In Daniel 10:13 and Ezekiel 28:11-19 we see that the kings had demonic power ruling behind them.
Makes you wonder which king, rulers, and such are being ruled by demonic powers.
My spirit...
God is telling His people that he won’t allow the humans to be in rebellion forever, which lines up with Revelation.. When he does away with everything and makes all things new and perfect.
Here, people dispute what this means… Is it God shortening humans life span, or about God setting a time for the flood?
Nephilim...
These are giants in the Bible… Literal giants.
Is this the origin of giants? Eh… could be.
People believe that some came from this, but there were others already here.
V.5-8
The wickedness of people was large.. their hearts only sought evil, continually.
The word “mind” is literally “heart,” back in the ancient days, the heart was the intellect, emotion, and will.
So, when you see “heart” think those things..
God made man by design… and man taken that capacity that they were given and chose to produce evil, and evil alone.
We see the same thing happening today… People produce evil because their hearts are far from God.
Jesus tells us in
Matthew 24:37 NKJV
But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
When Jesus comes back, the world will be like the Days of Noah...
Population Growing - Gen 6:1
Sexual Perversion - Gen 6:2
Demonic Activity - Gen 6:2
Constant evil in the heart of man - Gen 6:5
Violence and Corruption around the world Gen 6:11
We see all of this happening today… it just shows that Jesus is coming back soon. Are you ready?
Are you ready for that? If not, you need to get ready… Because, if you’re just acting the part to make people happy, then you won’t see heaven..
First time in the Bible, we see God regret something that he made...
This doesn’t mean that he thought he did something wrong.. it was because of what man was doing wrong.
The people loved evil, so it grieved the Lord… it PAINED Him.
So He was set to destroy humanity… But, Noah.
Man was made to obey, worship, and fellowship with God.
However, since sin progressed they just fell further away from God.
In verses 7 and 8, we see how God handles evil.
Not with half measures, but with simultaneous extremes of judgment and salvation.
But there is hope, there is salvation, and God will use Noah for that.
V. 9-10
This is kinda like starting a new section of a book...
Sin has spread and now we find Act II
In a world full of evil people, Moses was a man of God, righteous and blameless.
Noah’s 3 sons will play a big part
V.11-13
The world is full of sin and wickedness, just like today.
The Hebrew word corrupt means to bring to ruin, to destroy...
They are basically destroying the world.
We see God speaking to Noah and telling him His plan for the world.
God will put an end to every creature because of human sin..
Since man sinned, even earth is a victim of that.
V.14-16
God gave Noah a project… A huge project.
Gopher may be pine or cypress
The ark was about 30 stories long (150 meters) about 75 feet wide (25 M), and 45 feet high (15 M).
This ark is meant to just float, not really steer or anything. An ark is like chest, not a ship.
V. 17-21
God called Noah to a huge work, it makes you wonder how he felt.
Covenant refers to a binding, formal agreement between two parties.
Noah was to bring 1 male and 1 female of every creature. So, the creatures would be preserved.
Noah won’t have to go to find the animals, instead they will come to Him..
V.22
Noah did everything God commanded of him...
Let us do the same, let us do what God requires of us.
